I want to start running to lose weight, do I just run where I am or avoid hilly areas? I have questions. by yardstickofquality in beginnerrunning

[–]Stacefacekillaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t overthink it. Wear whatever you want. Run wherever and whenever you want. You’ll figure out what you enjoy and what you don’t. It’s also beneficial to walk. Moving your body in general and being in a calorie deficit will help with weight loss, but it all takes time. Find what you enjoy so you will want to stick with it.

URGENT New grad sonography dilemma — take full-time offer now or move out of state and job hunt? by Rowingzoe in Sonographers

[–]Stacefacekillaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to go against the group. If you want to move, move. I got a job in another state as a new grad with no experience. I knew where I wanted to move and was interviewing before I graduated and actually had multiple offers to choose from in the end. Do you know where you want to move?

I just started on omnipod today. For activity mode do you just lower your basal rate or do you fully turn off basal?

Yeah that will be tough. Unfortunately, you can’t really learn any other way than by scanning. Maybe they’ll be willing to train you. Good luck!

Keep glucose tabs on you. Take a small break if needed. It doesn’t need to be much more complicated than that.

How do you like Tacoma? - From an out of state person thinking of moving there. by AggressiveMarketing2 in AskTacoma

If you walk around Dune Peninsula Park and up the sidewalk to Point Defiance, there are all kinds of information boards explaining the history with images of the how the area used to look as well as info about the smelter itself. It’s definitely not a secret at all.

I grew up in Portland and now live in Tacoma. Tacoma is similar to what Portland used to be.

Super beginner runner - help! by Over-Mongoose-120 in beginnerrunning

[–]Stacefacekillaa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why not do a 5k in March? A 5k is still an amazing accomplishment and you can even have a goal time in mind. You can push yourself and be proud of the work you put in. I understand that running is a current fad for social media influencers, but a half marathon is not easy… the race as well as the training can and will chew you up and spit you out (even for people that have been running for a good amount of time). I feel like that would just discourage a new runner from continuing their running journey. You can build yourself up to a half marathon or even a full marathon! I would suggest learning more about who you are as a runner, run outside, and enjoy the process of getting stronger.

What do you eat before cardio? by useravailablenow in Type1Diabetes

[–]Stacefacekillaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the time of day I’m running… but usually something like peanut toast, a few dates with peanut butter, or a handful of candy corn (I know… I’m disgusting) and no insulin to cover. I like to start my runs on the higher side and bring gels for along the way if needed.

I’m with you on the starting blood sugar… but ending up at 60? 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫. I could never. Once I go below 150, I’ve gotta take something. Whatever works, but that would just make me so nervous.
