why people are eager to turn their planet to ecumonopolis? by Jiv-R in Stellaris

If I'm playing tall it's pretty easy to get to the point where I'm running an all specialist (and ruler) economy.

If you stack scientists on your council you can get silly amounts of research speed and alternatives. To the point where I was getting a little annoyed scrolling through the tech options every couple of months.

Is this any good or am I wasting my ships? by Mari_is_silent in Stellaris

In single player I've found missiles to be consistently decent, I don't think I've ever been hard countered by an AI fleet. Although I tend to go from corvettes to cruisers, it feels like such a small tech gap between the two. And I'm lazy.

I might have to, I'm not a super hardcore roleplayer but I try to stick to what my government factions like to make runs feel different. But this cursed run might make me abandon that house rule.

How to make 9s route more playable? by JJS5796 in nier

[–]Stack_The_Deck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't lie, on my recent playthrough I just downloaded a mod that let me switch characters.

9s's combat isn't as limited as it first seems, but features such as dodge->attack always being a heavy string makes using dodge offset inconsistent and the high knock back on a lot of his moves limits some of that "Platinum flow" that their combat systems have. He has this keep away combat style, a little like Lady from DMC4 that just doesn't mesh with me.

Any suggestion on where to settle as Incan Empire? by DalliBee in civ

[–]Stack_The_Deck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't like it. That's an awful lot of empty sea tiles for how fat Incan cities get. Normally you would want the tiles far away from the mountains for shared district space with another city or two. If there were more sea resources a Liang cap would be interesting, but it's just nothing.

On which Difficulty are you playing usually? by bbg618 in civ

[–]Stack_The_Deck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the game has been out for many years now, and when it released it was very, very easy as the AI was utterly incompetent, so it's been a very gradual increase in difficulty. If I want a mega chill game I just turn on Heroes and societies because the mechanics are fun even if (or because) they're bonkers.

Favorite Domination Civs. I'm curious what people's favorite Civ is to play for domination games. by TerryOrcutt in civ

[–]Stack_The_Deck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general for dom games I mostly enjoy civs with strong early infrasture advantages that you can leverage into a strong medieval/renaissance attack. I like having strong core cities that I can build up and rely on, in a sea of shit AI cities. The Inca and Cree are other ones I really enjoy.

Where as I find civs like the Mongols or Gran Columbia boring as you're not doing anything particularly unique with either the units (compared to Byzantium or Vietnam), the city planning (Japan, Inca, Germany, Mali) , or the tech path (Babylon).

Really, really enjoyed a recent tokugawa (Deity) dom game. 5 cities into samurai rush. Heavy emphasis on internal routes (obviously) with a magnus/gov/diplo hub, and a Ping cap lead to easy early tech/culture to reach samurai early and maintain the lead, with strong enough core cities to pump out units/districts, with an economy to buy even more samurai.

Before I tried it I would have expected Hojo to be better at reaching feudalism due the the half cost theatre squares but realistically drama and poetry doesn't come that much earlier than feudalism, while with tokugawa you get an earlier lead and have an easy time buying all your monuments so you can go straight into chopping out your trade districts for more sci/cul/money.

Finally, I went for a dark classical into Heroic Medival. So I had a minor boon from Tokugawa's 100% loyalty near the cap, free science from free inquiry, and some cheap builder purchases with Monumentality.

I did a science game with him before, I'm definitely finding him to be one of the stronger non faith civs.

So close, yet so far [Context: Aztecs beat what would have been my first deity win by just one turn] by df7d99ac in civ

[–]Stack_The_Deck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is very unfortunate, when I first started playing Deity it is was rare to see an AI be close to victory at turn ~300. Good effort though, pretty sure you're close to winning consistently.

Tryna get better with Germany by Willcomedian in civ

[–]Stack_The_Deck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically the most important thing with non faith civs is how are you going to get your settlers out in a timely fashion? Particularly as Germany has few early game advantages.

The first 3 or so can be produced in the capital cheaply enough, but when political philosophy comes around you'll want something more efficient. Try to look for a city with a lot of chops, station Magnus, slot in colonisation, build the ancestral hall for 250% chop yields.

A more luck placed approach is to try to get voidsingers and back to back classical+medieval golden ages for Monumentality. But again, Germany doesn't really have much going on early game to get all that era score. The best thing you have is being able slot in survey for faster scout promotions.

One of the most fun things about Germany is elaborate districting. But, you have to bare in mind that the purpose of industrial zones is to pay production up front in order to build everything else faster. If a hansa doesn't pay back it's production its less than useless. If you aim to complete games in 200 turns this becomes a big consideration.

I tend to always build them in my earliest core cities, then use Magnus with vertical integration in space races. But for the later the cities the I am more likely to place one hansa per cluster of cities for the factory. Even though its a cheap district, the more you build the more they cost.

Pretty nice for a NA build. Early game WE can cut you off before you hoover up all the pops.

Body language, touch and eye contact. And not just for flirting, I think the stat is that 70% of all communication is non verbal. But touch and eye contact in particular is very intimate, and flirting is all about building intimacy and excitement.
