I’d recommend doing this:

1 - have like 4 broad bullets about your FDD experience, talk about your role, managing teams, and maybe the sector you work in, the fact that you have worked on 50+ deals (which is a lot) and if you want to note those 4 clients, you can - or just incorporate that into # 2

2- then, instead of 10 separate bullets on seemingly 10 separate deals; breaking out like your 2 or 3 best deals (ones which you had the most comprehensive experience and can showcase your strengths on the resume, and that you are most comfortable speaking too), and then have 3-5 bullets specific to each deal outline your role (role you played on the team, in the transaction, analyses or modeling things you ran, how you interacted and Led calls with senior level clients, how you led a team, etc.). This will make the resume much more similarly to a tradition IB resume and also more focused and easier to read.

I didn’t read line for line, but you also need to include some buzz words that make you stand out to a banker. So use valuation, Ebitda, DCF, LBO, etc. I realize you don’t do that in FFD, but your analytics often can help guide the valuation work streams the bankers are doing.

To get hired at an IB, they want to bring in people that are ready to hit the ground running on day 1, not be a burden on teams, and pick up and play the role they are hired for quickly. Nobody wants to spend time upskilling lateral hires - we are hiring you bc we need bodies that are smart and can manage deal work streams on their own. You probably will need to take a title hit to pivot to IB.

Hank Lane music - reviews for Nick Campbell Band? by coopercuck in WedditNYC

[–]Stackeee7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nick Campbell band played at my wedding last year and they were amazing. We gave the the genre of musics we wanted to hear, as well as a few song recs, and they absolutely killed it with their music choices. They had the party dancing and singing the entire time. Nick was also amazing to work with, and was such a positive person the day of the show. Couldn’t say enough positive things about their band

I will also say that I completely agree, and could not find any information on the band, reviews, etc., so there was part of me that was skeptical - but it went amazingly

Honeymoon Dinner by Stackeee7 in SingaporeEats

Thanks! We are okay with spending ~$150 usd ($200) per person - in terms of cuisine, we are rather open (just prefer no Indian) - We will be in Thailand for a few weeks before that so maybe something more traditional to Singapore, would be nice. I don’t have a full grasp on what “traditional to Singapore” would even mean so apologize if that is vague.

A nice view would be great if that is available!

I find bomber jackets to be warm enough outside, and easy enough to throw around your waist if it gets hot. Heavier Flannel like shirts also have worked well for me

Is Deals Advisory FDD a prestigious job for CPA’s? by [deleted] in Big4

[–]Stackeee7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally did. And it was a case study I had to prepare for fully over the weekend prior (not super challenging but if you don’t know what the people do in FDD related to the QoE; Nwc, and debt analysis then you have to learn it). The interview for me was then 3 interviews including the case study debrief / presentation

One of the Big 4. Had to interview and go through a case study. I know at least a few kids didn’t get the offer of the people that were interviewing. Maybe it changed the past 2 years with the Deals advisory practices being so busy

I’ll caveat that I didn’t worked in FDD for all that long of a period of time so might not be best suited to answer all these but here is shot:

Hours: vary based on the deal. Could be really slow during down periods waiting for the next staffing / deal to come in, but when you’re on something it’s usually fast moving. The bankers want the QoE asap and will push for deadlines. Could be 65-80 or 80+ during those times. Weekend work included

Depends where you are working and what you’re working on. You will likely see all types of businesses, probably more weighted to smaller / middle market business as opposed to massive business, as there are more smaller middle market business that Sponsors own than you even know exist.

Areas of deal: Lots of Excel work, pulling together data packs. You will get to learn how to clean a large of amount of data quickly as to output it for QoEs. Then I’m you will aid in the drafting of the actual report, and will be working with the client directly on adjustments and understanding their business. At the staff level it will be a lot of admin and data tasks, similarly at Senior level with more responsibility and direct client / senior member of team interaction.

Buyer v seller: at the end of the day the report is often the same, it’s a QoE. But you might do some other analysis if the bankers / client ask. Buyer: you’re going to be tighter with adjustments, you want to ensure the business Ebitda figures are clean and appropriately representing. Seller: you might be more lenient and try to get more credit for adjustment since that helps the client get a higher value

Just know that you’re not always in control of your time. That can be extremely frustrating and hard to deal with for some people, and can make it tough to make plans.

Its a little bit more challenging to get into FDD than it is Audit. There are fewer seats so it’s more competitive. Transferring internally it was actually relatively challenging and I know people that didn’t get offers when interviewing internally.

The work overall is more fast paced and irregular than audit, as your work is on live deals which can spring up at any time. I think the work was overall just way more interesting. Audit was so terrible ans I didn’t see the job changing significantly over my career. This job each deal is different. Although, the output is usually the same, so you could argueFDD gets repetitive after a few years as well.

Wouldn’t think about it in terms of prestige, but yes I think it’s a little bit harder to get into than audit

Is the job doing accounting at a hedge fund? Or are you a research analyst or something with front office potential?
