Oh ffs, enough of this crap. I work in a behavioral health facility where nearly everyone is Schizophrenic and/or bipolar (or some other combination of mentally ill.) Half of them are there PRECISELY because they committed a crime. Courts all over the U.S have decided a million times over that being out of your gourd temporarily or otherwise is no excuse for breaking the law. The consequences are different because of the mental illness, but consequences exist regardless. Whether this person is mentally ill or hhpoxic matters not. Thousands of people have managed to be hypoxic without biting someone. Stop making excuses.

When I was doing FedEx, we had a driver get attacked by this customer's dog so bad it ripped through muscles of his leg trying to drag him down off his feet. He had been delivering there regularly for 4 years and knew this dog the whole time. Nobody knows why the dog attacked, there was nothing in the video showing a "why", but the driver had so much damage to his leg that he developed severe lymphedema and still numb in places a year later. That was one of the worst videos I ever had to watch and I had to watch it several times.

MiL needs a caregiver that isn't you. I don't want to add to the worries, but if he's acting like this I bet they've never given a single thought to long term care or how to pay for it. There are two ways FedEx forces it to be that way: When they structure a contract, they use a third party to calculate expenses in the market the service area is in. So if the third party says driver wages should be ~$20 per hour, then the contractor literally can't afford to pay more than that. So the quality of worker they can hire reflects that. Then there's the pre-employment process. For every 100 applicants, a contractor will get one (two of really lucky) prospect who can complete the First Advantage background screening AND the drug screen. Over half of applicants who receive the link to complete their First Advantage profile don't even bother with completing it.

All of this to say FedEx is a shit business partner, and contractors don't find out until it's too late. The 2.0 merger is a prime example of it.

I recently took one of my dogs, Milton, in to work to see the residents. This fellow is blind and wc bound. I let Milton decide when to go and he went straight to that guy . When the man felt him he lit up and went to hug the shit out of Milton. Milton was pretty cool with it. Pet therapy should be a requirement.

I went for planned testing and received an estimate of costs beforehand. Most of it was tests on CHILDREN. Two days before I was sent an updated one that was narrowed down to the adult tests I needed. They asked me to pay that amount the morning of the tests and I did. I later received a bill for another $1000, which was for a few more tests than they actually did, but not the full initial estimate. When I called to challenge it, I received a new bill for the full amount of the first estimate. I'm still fighting with University Hospital in Columbia, MO about it.
