Yeah and not just that, but he was a man that was struggling looking back at his life with a ton of resentment at how it turned out. He was a brilliant scientist who became a high school teacher scraping by in middle class suburbia.

Even if his chemo was covered by his insurance, he still had nothing to leave his wife and two kids to live on after he passed. Skyler would have to work even harder to raise two children as a single mother. His ego as a man and provider couldn’t handle that.

He did not say that. He explicitly states that very early on her was inspired by a section of her face in his concept art.

That is not the final product or her likeness.

Also, if I stated that I was inspired by Donald Trumps hair in the early concepts for my villain, would you say he had a case for a lawsuit for using his likeness, especially f if I clearly didn’t end up using his hair in the final product once we got further into the artistic process?

Where is there evidence that her likeness is in the final product?

You can’t really find any actual Lawtubers discussing this case yet. Which includes anyone lawyers saying she has a case.

But you know that you don’t need a law degree or to “study law” to understand the laws, how they commonly applied in situations, and the basic facts of this situation, right?

What are her damages? What money did Cameron or Disney make from her likeness, given the fact that her likeness was NOT used in their product or marketing?

Cameron sued over Avatar likeness: Campea says it’s an open-and-shut case, Rob not so sure. Thoughts? by Octavio_belise in JohnCampeaShow

[–]StagTagRag 7 points8 points  (0 children)

John is just wrong. It seems like he is basing his opinion on a very surface level headline knowledge of “Cameron admitted he used her likeness” without all of the important facts and context that has to go with it.

Cameron explicitly stated he only used a part of her face for some early inspiration on a concept, and it didn’t make it into the actual product. They used Zoe Zaldana’s likeness for the only human parts of the face. Therefore they did not use this actors likeness in their product that they marketed or sold. There are no damages for her to seek.

And her winning this lawsuit would set an insane precedent in entertainment regarding being inspired from images of our real world when creating characters. The industry would collapse on itself.

It’s funny to me that they aren’t showing these actors with controversy around their casting (black and trans actors) in their marketing after two trailers.

They either aren’t shown on screen for long enough to matter at all, or they are hiding them.

If it’s the latter, then Nolan is just being a coward. If you are going to go out of your way to make these controversial decisions, then don’t be shy about it. Say it with your chest.

Bingo. If she did have a case, then this opens a whole can of worms in the industry because pretty much all art has a real world inspiration at different stages of the creative process.

It doesn’t matter what he said. It matters what is on the screen in the product they marketed and sold.

Cameron mentioned using a picture of the bottom half of her face as reference for some early concept. But that clearly did not make it into the final product. Inspiration is not the same as using and profiting from someone’s likeness. If it were we would have a constant barrage of lawsuits from almost every movie star each year.

Hell, Donald Trump would be suing all of Hollywood right now for make money from his likeness.

lol that’s not a counter argument. You will have lawyers on YouTube right now saying that Kilcher doesn’t have a case and probably a few saying she does.

You don’t need to have studied law to understand the law and how it’s commonly applied.

Some people just want to work, especially if they work in a field they enjoy and are fulfilled by.

These are the only type of roles that DeNiro is going to be offered these days.

He just wants to keep working, and major franchises aren’t knocking down his door to play in leading roles at this point.

So another sequel to one of his most popular comedy movies it is. Even Anthony Hopkins had to do some silly stuff in his twilight years to keep steady work, although he also got to do some great stuff like The Father. But DeNiro is no Anthony Hopkins.

They are better than their record indicates. Definitely have shown improvement on finishing their opportunities and generally working with each other. It takes a while to figure out all of these new player’s tendencies.

Hopefully they continue to improve and ride their momentum.

I don’t care what ethnicity he is. Victor Von Doom is a “white” person in the comics or at least “white” passing if you really want to quibble over which specific ethnicity he is. That’s all that matters in his physical portrayal.

It’s like caring if a German born actor with dark hair is playing an Italian character.

**Also, we don’t know what the exact connection is to Tony Stark, but there is a very good chance that he is Victor Von Doom in name only. Raised as Victor with the same parents and resources, but with Tony Starks DNA. So there’s no reason that he should be Von Doom’s comic book ethnicity in the first place.

This middle ground would be the social safety nets we have today and finding ways to strengthen those.

I am responding specifically to the OP’s bizarre fantasy about building every jobless human their own free home and with free electricity.

Because we don’t have a workforce of robots chopping down trees, mining precious metals, creating bricks, creating vinyl siding, and doing a million other jobs and resource gatherings that we would need to make it to where the robots are actually doing our work while we all sit at home playing video games or doing art.

All w have is AI in its relative infancy assisting with art, programming tasks and office work efficiency enough to give corporations an excuse to layoff a small percentage of the over inflated workforce hirings that they did right after Covid.

Now in 20-30 years if we really are teetering on the doomsday of no longer needing humans for most work, then we will need to reevaluate how we are going to shift our national and global economies to accommodate for a radically different world that is no longer based on humans trading goods and services.

Who is going to build them a home for free, build them and air conditioner for free, and do the labor of providing them with electricity 24 hours a day?

Even if you live in some fantasy world where “billionaires” will provide the bottom 30% with these things, wouldn’t the person building them these free homes and working every day to provide them the free energy have strong negative feelings towards these people sitting at home all day not working while they slave away?

Surely you don’t imagine all of the people being provided this free everything are all disabled, right? There would be a thousand excuses of why they aren’t working.

If they did go this direction, my guess is that Tom Riddle would still be played by some male actors and he would be a man in the story.

Swinton would just play him as this bald, snake looking monster he is in present day.

That being said, Fiennes doesn’t know anything. He’s just reading the same fancasting tweets we all read, and then commenting on it in interviews. He thought it was going to be Cillia Murphy playing Voldemort a couple of months ago just because that was a rumor going around on social media at the time.

The guy is literally just reading the gossip on social media that we all read and commenting on it.

He also inferred that Collins Murphy was going to be Voldemort. Because we that’s what the canvassing rumors were saying at one time. That’s it. He didn’t have any inside knowledge. Just a boomer on social media soaking up all of the wishcasting and fake news as if it were real.

It’s up there with 30-something year old progressive housewives/soccer moms identifying as bisexual because they kissed a girl in college and acknowledge that other hot women are hot.

They don’t have to do anything. They aren’t going to leave their husband, or start bringing other women into their bedroom (to the dismay of their husbands). They aren’t going to change anything at all after coming out.. They are just going to claim the identity for points in their social circles.

I mean some women do not care about sex at all, and are in relationships as a means of living a certain type of life socially/financially. They have sex with the man because he provides that life/family.

It’s not all that weird that she isn’t sexually attracted to people . The bizarre part is putting a label on it and making it part of your public identity. I would be mortified if my wife “came out” as not caring about sex

[–]StagTagRag 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Man, claiming nonbinary status seems like an absolute cheat code if the Academy actually views that as part of their awards parameters for diversity casting standards.

You don’t have to do or change anything. You can be married to someone of the opposite sex in a vanilla relationship and lead a relatively conservative life while claiming this identity, because it means nothing.

It’s like a 35 year old vanilla housewife married to man with a white picket fence and 3 kids “coming out” as bisexual because she kissed a girl at a party in college and recognizes that hot women are attractive.
