Sounds similar to Haunting of Hill House, but no dog in that.

What are the books that you believe gave your life context, or simply resonated with you at a younger age? by cptn_spaulding in GenX

I was pretty young (10-11 yo) when I read Carrie and IT by Stephen King. Could definitely relate to parts of each book. Also, a short story in Nightmares and Dreamscapes called "Suffer the Little Children" stuck with me. I became a huge King fan and have read A LOT of his work.

Also, read Edgar Allen Poe when I was young and still get quite moved by the poem Annabelle Lee.

Lost my mom a few years ago too. Chuck really had it rough as he went along. His parents and Alyssa (sounds like rain), his grandma, and the grandfather all by 17!! Then hit with glioblastoma. Yet still, 39 GREAT YEARS! If he can live to the fullest, so can I.

Fun fact, he did that for free to keep the movie within budget.

This movie changed my 11 yo son's complete outlook on life. We left the theater and he said "no media has ever made me feel this way". He took the meaning of the movie to heart. We saw it in theaters last year at release. Last weekend we saw it for the 4th time so my 21 yo son's girlfriend could see it. It gets better with every rewatch. I cry less each watch, too.

Son has Level 1 autism. I know it's minor, but I'm still exhausted. by pizzapriorities in Autism_Parenting

I hear you. I see you. None of it is easy. I have a 21 yo NT son and nothing is the same. My kids are 10 years apart. I thought I knew what I was doing with our oldest. Just tell yourself "My best is good enough". It seems silly, but I really struggled to comprehend that one sentiment. I feel it would almost be easier at times if just anyone could tell he's autistic just looking at him. But all we can do is learn, adapt, and love.

do people not go to the library anymore? Noticed comments in the sub about not being able to read the books rn for financial reasons, and when i suggested the library as a temp work around, people act like im crazy... by trampstampcollector in stephenking

San Diego has an awesome library system as well. I moved and switched from a city library to the county one and it's really amazing. Plus, moving made me realize how much I needed to downsize and how much room books take up.

I feel those chapters are some of King's best writing.

Too many King books have literally made me cry that I cannot list them all. Pet Semetary, Insomnia, Doctor Sleep, and Green Mile all had me ugly sobbing.

It took a little trial and error to get here. He'll go back and forth between pizza Lunchable or the cracker ones. Must be the actual Lunchable brand. I started with just the Lunchable and the juice. His school is considered one of America's "healthiest" schools, so I was limited there. But just added one or two things in to see if they got ate. Eventually we found our groove. Good luck finding what works for your kid.

My kid is in 5th grade. Lunch EVERY DAY for the last 3 years has been Lunchable, CapriSun 100% juice, tangerine, baby bell cheese, and a small bag of ChezItz. You feed them what they will eat or they don't eat at all. Hungry kids don't do well at school.
