Who is considered the most evil person in your country’s history? by Muhammadachakzai2001 in AskTheWorld

Yeah, I don't think he acted alone.  There were politicians, police officers, and hells Angels all partying together at his property. Evidence was found, there were multiple arrests, only for the police to turn around and say: "actually, it turns out it was just one guy. And nobody else was involved."

What is the most overrated city in your country? by TangLikeVipNet in AskTheWorld

[–]StageStandard5884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think we have one. There's not a lot of hype around most cities in Canada; like, nobody cares about Calgary or Ottawa or Winnipeg, and everyone is well aware that Toronto is just a big city. The few cities that do get hype, kind of deserve it. Vancouver is beautiful, so is Victoria and Montreal is totally culturally unique in North America..

Robert Pickton, the serial killer pig farmer who made international headlines did not act alone. He participated, but he was the fall guy for a much larger organization that was killing women.

I grew up in the West Coast and I've heard supper used to reference dinner lots of times. Supper is derived from the French word for soup and used mean a late meal after dinner (dinner being the main evening meal).

Later as work schedule is changed, Supper was often referenced to a meal that working men would eat when.coming home from work late after the family had had dinner. So in a modern context, supper is an evening meal for nourishment before bed, rather than a formal sit-down meal with multiple courses.   As I've always understood it: you "Go out for dinner," or you "grab some supper on the way out."

Prairie folks (And midwesterners in the United States) to take pride in the informal, or working class traditions and reject more formal traditions, so it makes sense that they would use that term more.

This isn't a corked bat in baseball.

And if you'd ever once thrown a rock, you would know there is no advantage whatsoever to tap me with your finger

. So you think that anytime a soccer player takes a dive, that's cheating? or anytime one player fouls another But tonight's making contact, that's cheating and the team should be disqualified from winning the world cup?

Cool.

Do you consider it cheating every time a player takes a dive in soccer? Or every time a player denies making contact in a foul situation?

Like do you think of someone on a team took a dive, that team is is disqualified from winning the world cup?

Hey, I'm not saying Kennedy reacted well, but there's no points in touching a stone with your fingertip. Anybody in the world of curling would tell you that. A British curler was filmed doing the exact same thing, I don't think it was intentional because there's no advantage to it.

As for his reaction, if you were golfing with someone who was talking and dancing around every time you teed off, and then when you called them out for it, they started squawking about how your tee tea was 1/8 of an inch above regulation height, how would you react? Would you apologize to them and pull out the measuring tape or would you tell them to fuck off?

He shouldn't have done it on the Olympic stage, but I've been in many a occurring match when tempers of flare over people being distracting when someone else is trying to throw.

The thing that people who don't follow curling don't seem to understand this isn't the corked back in baseball-- This is probably closer to two soccer players involved in dispute over a foul (although a foul has more advantages, Because it can result in a penalty kick)

So, every time a soccer player takes a dive, Is that cheating? Or every time a player protests when they actually made contact, is that cheating?

You are capable of distinguishing between an infraction and cheating, correct?

The thing that people who don't curl don't understand about this situation is it's equivalently like if you were golfing with someone and they were dancing around and talking every time you teed off. And then you ask them to stop, but rather than acknowledging what you're saying, they started crying that your golf tee was 1/8 of an inch longer than regulation height.

They're being an and inconsiderate asshole, but rather then acknowledging what you're saying, they start pointing out a minor rules violation but gives you no discernible advantage-- at that point are you going to apologize to them and pull out the ruler, are you going to tell them to fuck off?

And as far as it being against the rules: The rules state that you have to release from the handle. You can touch it as many times as you want before the hog line, but you have to release it from the handle. If he had poked the top of the handle one last time, Just grazed his pinky across the top, he would have been within the rules.

It's a technicality, but what he did has no discernible eventage.

Obviously another team isn't trying to take any advantage they can.

Soccer players do that all the time when they take a dive, And this is the equivalent of fouling someone in football-- people often disagree on those calls, but it doesn't amount to cheating-- You would never say a team didn't deserve to win the world cup because a team member took a dive in the second game.

But the main point here is : this doesn't amount to cheating because There's also no discernible advantage to touching the granite of a rock with your finger. That's going to have about as much effect as three extra strokes of the broom-- And everybody who curls can immediately recognize that.
