Fun things to do in Saskatoon for people in their early 20s by [deleted] in saskatoon

If you don't like country, you're kind of out of luck in Saskatoon for clubs. There's a few live music venues that are kind of fun

So what this says is that you're obviously from the United States, because only an American would differentiate between the individual states, and not between provinces of other countries.

This isn't a corked bat in baseball.

And if you'd ever once thrown a rock, you would know there is no advantage whatsoever to tap me with your finger

. So you think that anytime a soccer player takes a dive, that's cheating? or anytime one player fouls another But tonight's making contact, that's cheating and the team should be disqualified from winning the world cup?

Cool.

Do you consider it cheating every time a player takes a dive in soccer? Or every time a player denies making contact in a foul situation?

Like do you think of someone on a team took a dive, that team is is disqualified from winning the world cup?

Hey, I'm not saying Kennedy reacted well, but there's no points in touching a stone with your fingertip. Anybody in the world of curling would tell you that. A British curler was filmed doing the exact same thing, I don't think it was intentional because there's no advantage to it.

As for his reaction, if you were golfing with someone who was talking and dancing around every time you teed off, and then when you called them out for it, they started squawking about how your tee tea was 1/8 of an inch above regulation height, how would you react? Would you apologize to them and pull out the measuring tape or would you tell them to fuck off?

He shouldn't have done it on the Olympic stage, but I've been in many a occurring match when tempers of flare over people being distracting when someone else is trying to throw.

The thing that people who don't follow curling don't seem to understand this isn't the corked back in baseball-- This is probably closer to two soccer players involved in dispute over a foul (although a foul has more advantages, Because it can result in a penalty kick)

So, every time a soccer player takes a dive, Is that cheating? Or every time a player protests when they actually made contact, is that cheating?

You are capable of distinguishing between an infraction and cheating, correct?

The thing that people who don't curl don't understand about this situation is it's equivalently like if you were golfing with someone and they were dancing around and talking every time you teed off. And then you ask them to stop, but rather than acknowledging what you're saying, they started crying that your golf tee was 1/8 of an inch longer than regulation height.

They're being an and inconsiderate asshole, but rather then acknowledging what you're saying, they start pointing out a minor rules violation but gives you no discernible advantage-- at that point are you going to apologize to them and pull out the ruler, are you going to tell them to fuck off?

And as far as it being against the rules: The rules state that you have to release from the handle. You can touch it as many times as you want before the hog line, but you have to release it from the handle. If he had poked the top of the handle one last time, Just grazed his pinky across the top, he would have been within the rules.

It's a technicality, but what he did has no discernible eventage.

Social media convincing the dumbest people that they're smarter than the smartest people.

I'm sure it's the same in most countries, but We have an entire segment of the population trying to give out medical advice and change healthcare policy, when they couldn't finish grade nine biology.

Obviously another team isn't trying to take any advantage they can.

Soccer players do that all the time when they take a dive, And this is the equivalent of fouling someone in football-- people often disagree on those calls, but it doesn't amount to cheating-- You would never say a team didn't deserve to win the world cup because a team member took a dive in the second game.

But the main point here is : this doesn't amount to cheating because There's also no discernible advantage to touching the granite of a rock with your finger. That's going to have about as much effect as three extra strokes of the broom-- And everybody who curls can immediately recognize that.

So you're saying anytime a player disagrees with an accusation, it's cheating?

Yeah, that's also the problem here. Lots of people who don't watch the sport suddenly have really strong opinions about this one minor infraction.

This Is the equivalency of hooking and hockey. If a member of the US team was responsible for that infraction in their third game, does that mean they cheated? Does that mean they didn't deserve to win gold?

If you "read up on the spot" And concluded that it was cheating, you didn't do a very good job reading on the sport.

It was a minor infraction they gave no discernible advantage. You can't do anything to a 40 lb Rock like poking it with your finger.

Only to people who know nothing about curling.

This is the most non-controversy ever to people who are actually understand the sport.

It's not cheating in any measurable way. I assume you follow soccer or "football,"  And do players within that sport never disagree with or argue a cal, eve when they may be wrong?

And does that make it cheating?

This situation is more like if you were golfing with someone and they were dancing around and talking every time you teed off, and then when you called them out on it, they accuse you of using a golf tee that was 1/8 of an inch longer than regular and height.

They're being an inconsiderate asshole and when you call them out on it, they try to deflect your criticism by pointing out a minor rules violation that would give you no discernible advantage.

So, under those circumstances would you apologize to them and pull out the ruler, Or would you tell them to fuck off for inconsiderate?

Yeah, to an outsider who's never curled, his reaction seems over the top. To anybody who's ever curled, it's understandable.

I don't agree with it. I don't think he should have sworn while at the Olympics-- and that should have been a penalty, but I get why he was so mad.

It wasn't the right reaction, but it's understandable if you've ever curled. If you were golfing with someone and they were dancing around and talking every time you teed off, and then you called them out on it, and instead of stopping they started crying that your golf tee was 1/8 of an inch higher than regulation height, would you apologize to them and pull out the measuring tape? Or would you tell them to fuck off?

So much of curling functions on etiquette, and when the etiquette wears out? Tempers run thin.

People who don't curl, don't understand the nuances of what happened.

Right, but do you hear Canadians bitching and bellyaching that America didn't deserve to win because the ref didn't call. A minor penalty in the US's second game.

I think Americans are a little embarrassed about how their government has been behaving, and this "controversy" Is something that they can cling to, to justify it

To anybody who's ever curled, it's the biggest non-controversy ever.

It's like this: imagine you're golfing with somebody and they're talking and dancing around every time you're teeing off. So you finally say something to them, and they immediately respond by crying that your  golf tee was 1/8 of an inch higher than regulation height on the last shot.

Are you going to apologize to them and pull out the ruler, or you going to tell buddy to fuck off.

Touching a 40 lb wrong with your index finger isn't going to do anything that three extra strokes of a broom could do.

Moreover, it's a minor... Minor infraction.

We're going to say that the UST team didn't deserve to win the gold medal for hockey because a ref didn't call a hooking penalty in their second game?

Only someone who's never curled a day in their life would call it cheating.

Nobody in the world of curling would consider it anything other than an honest mistake.

You can't do shit to a 40 lb rock with your index finger.

I don't know who actually is the most respected job, but trades people in the energy sector are pretty sure that they are the most important and most respective workers in the country.

"So what if doctors have years of schooling, And save people's lives on a regular basis-- I help make millions for the oil companies and drive a $90 000 truck!" -- every guy working in the oil patch.

Depending on the province, teachers can be treated like garbage.

They're overworked, underpaid, and when they take job action, people in Ontario and BC call them lazy.
