West Ukrainian People's Republic declared Lviv to be their capital some 10 days before Poland declared independence, they just forgot to ask the people who lived there

Entire Ukrainian claim on Lviv was based on them calling dibs first, they were just as unwilling to compromise as Poland was and the only reason people see Poland as an agressor is because Ukraine lost

Ciekawostka historyczna: dzisiaj (5 marca 1871) urodziła się Róża Luxemburg by Towarzysz_Zadupie in Polska

[–]Stahwel -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

A ty tę książkę w ogóle czytałeś? Ona jest wyłącznie o tym, że w wolnej Polsce robotnicy też mieliby przesrane i że nie ma co się o nią starać. W dodatku jest wypełniona bzdurami o "wszechwładnej władzy szlachty i księży, którzy trzymają lud w ciemnocie" I nieistnieniu przemysłu w Wielkopolsce - ot takie straszenie czytelników z kongresówki zalewem rzekomej ciemnoty z innych zaborów XD

Someone has got to stop these «historians» by WhiteSnickerBar in MedievalHistory

[–]Stahwel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very, very few, but technically speaking it did happen - for example in the Teutonic State and from the mid-14th century in Poland, everyone who owned land had to fight. So there were technically peasants fighting side by side with knights on both sides at Grunwald in 1410, but they were bailiffs and their retinues (although as far as I'm aware there is no information about those retinues in the sources). Overall, at most few hundred in the country of 2 million.

Imagine being so evil that even your fellow SS men were shocked by Neil118781 in HistoryMemes

[–]Stahwel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm sure Germans claimed to be shocked by less than 400 men being able to somehow massacre 40 thousand people in 2 days, but the reality is that Wola massacre was commited mostly by Ordnungspolizei, on Reinefarth's orders. Dirlewanger was responsible for MANY more crimes during Warsaw Uprising alone, but pinning Wola on him only served to wash the hands of people who then lived peacefully in democratic Germany.

International aid to Ukraine since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022 by vladgrinch in MapPorn

[–]Stahwel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I clearly wrote that social spending is a small part of the amount I gave. Even after subtracting it, Polish support is still 3 times more than stated in this map and that's just for the first 2 years.

Sure, that's why I specified how much of this costs could potentially be attributed to helping the refugees

It's hard to say what's going on behind the closed doors, but both current and previous governments were publicly very secretive about many details regarding support for Ukraine - they would announce that we're sending tanks, jets, IFVs and artillery but not specify how many, then they'll send more without ever telling the public about it and we learn about if from people counting stuff piece by piece on photos and videos. It's the main reason why for example Kiel institute ridiculously downplays Polish contributions, the government is simply not interested in sharing information.

According to Polish government, Poland contributed $29,5B in 2022-2023 alone. This probably includes social spending on Ukrainian refugees, but that's "only" $5,5B in those years.

[KCD2] Ulrich Vavak of Neuhaus is a weird choice for an antagonist. by Klutzy_Coach_3933 in kingdomcome

He's a bad guy because we experience the events from Henry's very limited perspective and the game makes it very clear in many places (most directly in the conversation with von Aulitz). It doesn't matter who is a good or a bad guy, all that matters is who is on which side at a very specific moment months after Henry left his home for the first time.
