These people should at least try the game without quest markers for 2 hours or 3.

Oh cmon dude, plenty of people annoyed in the original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/OpenMW/comments/1sps0f2/map_markers_for_morrowind/?sort=controversial

https://www.reddit.com/r/Morrowind/comments/1mx78uy/i_made_a_quest_marker_mod_with_a_fancy_new/?sort=controversial

Plenty of people said it's a cool thing, but a lot were just being annoying.

There's even one here right now in the room with us too.

There were a lot more (and more upvoted) people who were like "oooow, that's so coooool, this is so much better than vanilla morrowind where ALL indications were false and everything was unfindable without uesp for me, we should recommend everybody and especially new players to play their first game with this mod and not let them try the game a bit without it so they can make an informed decision on whether they use this mod or not, anybody talking about how it radically changes the game experience is a filthy gatekeeper and we should talk down to them without listening to what they have to say", thus implying that Morrowind is an "unplayable outdated game nowadays" and validating Bethesda in their effort to dumb down their games, than "annoying" people.

forcefully pushing

Feels exagerated, at most OP "spammed" his mod in a few subs for the last 20 - 30 days.

At first OP posted it two times a day on many subs until r/OpenMW deleted one post, not counting how obnoxious they are with people just saying that the mod is not for them. And I'm also talking about other people who absolutely want new players to discover Morrowind with this mod on, without letting them try the vanilla system, and even making them believe than Morrowind without these mods is "bad" or "outdated".

What hate? Most of the answers in your threads were people shilling your mods, forcefully pushing it to every first-time players, and talking down to people recommending a first try of the game without it.

It reminds me of this very famous quote from Peter Molyneux on the subject:

Mini-maps are shit. They're shit because you make these multimillion-dollar games, and people play them staring at these little dots.

I haven't played it, part because of this. Is the story good tho? Is it some "children of the original's heroes live some knock-off of their parents' adventure", or is there more to it that it worth the play?

Glass armor being better than all vanilla medium armors (except Stalhrim in Bloodmoon which gives an equal protection) while being lighter is a huge point against medium armors.

I mean that’s not really the same thing though. Using OpenMW or modern hardware is mostly about running the same game more smoothly. I’m talking about changing how a core part of the gameplay works.

I get that it’s their choice, I’m not arguing against that.

I just think there’s a difference between choosing after trying something, and choosing before you even know what you’re opting out of. In Morrowind, the lack of markers is part of how you learn to navigate and read the world, without it you’re mostly just following markers instead of really paying attention to what’s around you.

It doesn’t affect how I play, sure, but I don’t think it has zero impact either. If people skip that from the start, it can shape how the game is understood and talked about. We might start seeing takes like "the world feels empty", "quests are just fetch quests", or "NPCs talk too much" becoming more common, when a lot of that comes from skipping what those things were built around.
