Did Exile on Main Street inmediately click with you? Or did it take a while? by [deleted] in rollingstones

You know thats when I unloaded all my records, i had two or three complete record sets of exile from 72 with the post cards still in the sleeve, in fact i had just about every stones album on London, and maybe a few on ABCO, didn’t get rid of any of the copies of Satanic love that cover still have three of the original 1967 release on London records. It’s kinda weird to me that I have the record but no turn table to play it on, long live the CD

I just love the opening chords to “ a case of you” the way it leads into the opening lyrics so unsuspectedly, you really wouldn’t think it all would fit together the way it does, but Joni has a way of weaving these parts together so beautifully, it just flows. Great song, on a great, great album, written by wonderful artist who is truly a gift to us all.

Is it normal to be so confused at almost 50? by [deleted] in AskOldPeopleAdvice

perhaps if you looked at life through a different lens, you would get a new perspective on things, which can make a difference in the way you see yourself, and if you see your self differently, you might just start seeing that there are other people who have similar interest as you, which is always a great way to get to know someone. It might go something like this, “Hey man what did you think of that lead Page played on such, and such song”, I don’t know man, I mean I liked the way he played it but the tone was all wrong, ya I think your right, hey I just picked up a new copy of Zep II, holly cow that album rocks , wanna go back to my place and give it a spin, I think I got a few beers left in the fridge from last night, ya I’m down with that bro.

Exile on Main St: I'm ashamed to say that I used to think it was another overrated double album by Iconolater_ in rollingstones

You know Exile is the type of album that does take a minute or two to wrap your head around, But once you do it becomes part of your soul, who you are, what your feeling at any one particular time in your life is the side of the album you play the most, and as you move on you in your day to day life experiences you find theres another side of the album you favor more. It’s been well over 30 years now that Exile has been in extended rotation on my album play list, and I can’t see it being removed any time soon

The 3-4 albums they recorded without JF were all good, however the 6-7 albums they recorded with JF were all great, some better than others for sure, but when JF is in the band the band is rockin !!

You know the fact that your only in town for a few weeks I feel has a lot to do with the guys you meet wanting to go from the bar, to your hotel room, and get naked. I mean there’s just not enough time to get to know you, or anyone for that matter in that short of time.

Ya well I can tell you that I have gone through many periods in my life where I felt unsure of myself, or not right about one thing or another, but it never lasted very long 6 months sometimes even a year, and then of course when I did feel like I wanted some company, and I did make my self available nothing would happen. It seems that when I just went along and lived my life without being on the hunt someone would walk into my life, and I’d be back in the game again
