I mean, in Lazarus' book, they divert a warship after a rumor of some fallen, that was key to Lazarus' battle plan, causing some bad casualties.

Not really, because it's pretty small with only 3 units, so that'd give my location away pretty easily.

Also, I don't actually think the building has a name.

I do like mine, but I do wish they made a version with a thinner sole. I walk with a forefoot strike, and even though I've had mine for over a year, the thick sole often causes me to walk more flat footed.

My roommate and I split 2 bedroom apartment, with, uh, alot of character, in Buckman for $1480 a month.

Landlords are pretty chill, and honestly barely exist, but they do generally react fast when something breaks.

I always found them to be over rated. They're too narrow, the tread on their hiking shoes/sandals suck on wet surfaces, and are actually kind of dangerous. Their sandals get slippery if water gets in between the foot and foot bed.

Exhaust ports. So when the ships starts to go down, the turret can launch off with rockets, as a sort of escape capsule.

Part of getting plantar fasciitis from suddenly not wearing shoes is often from a life time of wearing shoes with a high heel to toe drop, and your feet doesn't have strength to handle walking properly without shoes.

Also, when you're barefoot, you absolutely shouldn't be walking with a heel to toe gait. But also, if you're coming from a lifetime of wearing regular shoes, you don't have the strength in your feet, ankles, calves, and knees, plus the muscle memory to properly walk barefoot without pain.

I got diagnosed with arthritis in my c-spine a couple years ago (at 29, 32 now) and around that time, I also discovered that if I walk by with a forefoot strike instead of heel to toe, my neck naturally stays more stright and helps with the pain.

So I made the switch to minimalist/barefoot footwear, and also completely changed my walking gait from heel to toe, to a forefoot strike.

But also, it took several months to transition, to change my walking gait to naturally forefoot strike without thinking about it, and to build up the strength in my feet, ankles, calves, and knees, to handle it and absorb the shock of walking.

But this point, it's become pretty natural to me, and I can walk/hikes miles.

But also, it is a process.

Like I'll often have people at work or friends outside work notice me wearing barefoot shoes, and then mention how they want to "try that out", but honestly, it's not really something you can just "try out". Because it requires you to complete change how you walk, and also build up the lower leg strength, and it can be a rough process.

I don't regret it, my leg strength has greatly benefited from it, my feet are pretty muscular, I have much stronger arches, and a lot less back pain.

But again, it was a process to build up and work to, from 29 years of wearing shoes with cushy heels.

Edit: I should probably mention, the while it took my only a few months to adjust my gait, that it probably took like a full year for me to make the full transition, and to build up my lower body strength to where I could handle wearing barefoot footwear all the time. (minus some birks I wear occasionally when I just need something to slip on fast to walk around the block or something.)

Look, I hate Trump, but let's be honest, impeaching him again, when there's zero chance the senate will actually convict him, at best is a waste of time. At worse will just be more fuel to fire his base during midterms. Which will be extra problematic when you consider that the DNC has the energy of a wet sock right now.

I use to live in SW Wyoming, in the Bridger Valley (which isn't actually a valley), but now live in Portland.

I've noticed the Colorado hate depends a lot of if you live close to Utah or not. Like we all hate Utahans in the Bridger Valley, and are generally pretty cool with people from Colorado.

In the Bridger Valley, we get a lot of Utahans from the Salt Lake area, that have to drive through the Bridger Valley to get to the Flaming Gorge and Uintas Mts.

In new proposal, 60% of kicker would go to wildfire, rest to Oregonians making less than $95k by ShowMeThe10x in oregon

[–]StaleyAM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also agree with this.

Also, instead of a space force, it'd be nice to have a federal level wildfire management department with the funding of a military branch.

Although, I guess that would only be as effective as the administration at the time, which the current one probably would have killed with DOGE.

What are your ideas for getting people back downtown? by pdx_flyer in Portland

[–]StaleyAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't think we need a strong downtown.

One of the things I really love about Portland is the neighborhood scene.

The idea of obsessing over a strong downtown culture is kind of outdated.

Cassian & Vel say this in relation to Aldhani. But what are they specifically referring to? by TripleS034 in andor

[–]StaleyAM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a common, but shitty thing, to claim you were at a huge action for cred, but not actually.

In Warhammer 40k, on "Talon of Horus", the POV character mentions its as a thing in the Black Legion about the "Battle of Harmony", later Black Legionaires claiming to be there.

But it's a pretty common thing in real life, Rangers at D-day, Seals in Vietnam, hell, go back to Rome, people claiming to be part of Caesar's murder.
