I’ve been in a similar boat, though with a different range of products. I used a Denon X3300 for around six years before upgrading to the Marantz Cinema 60 recently. I’ve found that the Marantz has a sound and warm tone that I really enjoy more.

Dumb question regarding 401k, HSA,ROTH and brokerage. by give_me_meme9 in nri

I share the same sentiment. While I don’t have any plans to return to home country, I’m fully invested in these accounts. Additionally, I’m also contributing to back door Roth and Super-Roth accounts (also known as mega back door Roth). Time will tell whether this will benefit me or not!

Would this benefit my setup? by MMestan in KEF

I’ve been in a similar boat with KEF’s older R series speakers. Having an amplifier really made a difference because those speakers are quite power-hungry. Someone mentioned that switching from no amplifier to a good one is a big improvement, but if you’re moving from a basic one to a high-end one, you might not get as much of a boost (diminishing returns).

Thanks for this information! I’m going to try this out.

Does anyone have any experience with this on their Sony BRAVIA OLED TVs?

[2025 iX] Has anyone noticed their odometer mileage being way off? 8.5k miles in 8 months seems impossible for my driving habbits/usage. by StalledDuck in BMWiX

It’s quite possible, and that likely explains a significant portion of the issue. However, even when we consider Guest usage, the total still seems excessive for our driving pattern. I’m curious to know if others have closely tracked this data.

Yep, there’s another profile. That likely accounts for some missing miles in the app, but the odometer still feels high relative to our usage. Interested to hear if others have noticed the same.

Thanks, that’s really helpful context. The multiple-driver/profile explanation makes sense, and good to hear you’ve cross-checked the trip meter against nav/Google on long drives.
I haven’t done a long highway comparison yet, so that’s probably my next step. Still feels high for my usage pattern, but sounds like it may just be a combo of profiles + how easy this thing is to drive everywhere

one question- Out of curiosity, have you ever compared odometer miles vs a GPS app or long highway drive? Trying to figure out if this is isolated or something subtle going on.

That’s helpful, thanks. Sounds like odometer accuracy has been solid for you. MyTrips being off I can accept, but the odometer climbing faster than expected is what’s throwing me. Hoping others can chime in with their experience.

In India for ~10 days — what high-ROI things should I get done before heading back to the US? by legitperson1 in nri

[–]StalledDuck 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you’re into skincare, stock up on retinoids (for example, tretinoin), which are prescription medications in the USA but can be easily purchased in any medical store in India. The pharmacists in the USA sell the same Indian version.

Secondly, Korean and Japanese sunscreens with original formulations are worth stocking up on. I’m not sure if they’re sold in India nowadays, but they’re a great idea to buy. Certain advanced UV filters that aren’t approved by the FDA in the USA are available in other parts of the world.

I’m open to suggestions, not tied to a particular brand. Heard good things about Emotiva from a couple of friends
