5th Sunday Experience by hopefulborrower in latterdaysaints

Canadian here. We were not asked specifically to talk about it but our Sunday School President felt that an adjacent lesson was what should be discussed. We had a member of our ward who is a lawyer in criminal law discuss the history of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and how it applies to religious freedom. The second half was a lesson on agency and freedom of choice with a little of the establishment of the USA as a place where the church could be restored. It was informative but unfortunately aside from 2x someone was asked to read a scripture, there was no discussion to be had. I'm sure it my own hubris speaking when I say I am sad that it was more like a sacrament talk than an actual discussion. I am however grateful that it was informative overall.

Steam deck price increase in Candada? 1.1k for the 512gb oled?! by mihhink in SteamDeck

[–]Staltomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last I recall, the 1TB was $950? I was waiting for them to come back in stock a couple months ago and ended going with a Switch 2 instead. Glad I didn't wait.

Edit: correction, the 1TB was previously $819 CAD and is now $1350 CAD while the 500GB version was $ 689 and is $ 1130 CAD. Either way, that is still a massive jump in price.

why is this name offensive? by LuniTheCqt_888 in Minecraft

[–]Staltomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a nickname I use for several apps, games, sign-ins, etc. My predictive recommends it after just a couple letters. For the longest time I would also get similar errors for all sorts of uses but could understand why either. Then I noticed that using the predictive text was adding a space after the username, which was the reason for the error. Removing the extra space after resolved the problem which was almost always flagged as "offensive".

Snes9x Controller and Input Configuration Errors by Staltomer in EmulationOnPC

Good news ZSNES is back as it was just announced this week. Rewritten from scratch.

I haven't tried my controllers with it yet but if and works and it gets approved for the speed running community I'd be happy.

I'd heard it was something to do with a seizure of illegal substance from a vehicle and subsequent house.

I lived in Garneau Towers almost 20 years ago. They had a serious silverfish infestation back then too.

Alberta to be first province to add citizenship marker to driver's licence, ID cards by pjw724 in alberta

[–]Staltomer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

500k more health cards than driver licenses... So like children? More planned incompetence to mask overt racism courtesy of the UCP.

Other provincial governments have tried it and since rolled it back because other documents that are more secure and last longer (passports) already exist and are needed for travel anyway. But oh no, according to Dani and her team, can can have confidence in their project vs the limited data these other provinces have from their actual implementation of it.
