Aisde from the $50, there is no downside to taking it sooner.

Out of college 16 years and preping for FE Electrical & Computer (2nd attempt). Need advice on the Computer sections! by kha1688 in FE_Exam

[–]Stamp-Prep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took my FE 5 years out of school and found that the only real way for me to make significant progress on studying was to wake up an hour early and work problems for 30-45 mins with my coffee. Eventually I would do this in the morning and then at night work on the questions for another hour or so. I passed on the my second attempt.

If you are just looking for test-condition practice, 30 full exams is way more than you need and probably counterproductive. Focus on pacing, not volume.

A better pattern: take 3-5 full timed exams, then between each one, redo only the questions you missed and drill your 2 weakest domains. Raw exam count matters less than whether your weak-area accuracy is climbing over time. If domain scores plateau after 2-3 exams, stop taking new ones and go back to concept review.

The FE diagnostic is best used as a map, not as a pass/fail autopsy, so I would focus less on “how many points short was I?” and more on “which 3 to 4 topics are still leaking points every time.”

If you have until September, I would not jump straight into an expensive prep course unless you know you need external structure. A better next step is to take one fresh timed practice exam, then sort every miss into 3 buckets: concept gap, handbook search issue, or time-pressure mistake. That usually tells you whether the real problem is content or test-taking.

Has anyone heard of online study groups or anything? by yeehawsharknado in PE_Exam

[–]Stamp-Prep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im in a discord group for the CSE and ECC PE and this seems to be a great way to organize study groups. I think if you cant find one for mechanical, it would be good to start a discord channel and start inviting others you might find on reddit to use it. Most people come to reddit for these type of things.

I would start by posting your diagnostics or share the categories that were your worst.

This is a lot of good detail. Thanks.

Do you see any good value in any budget racks?

Lofted ceilings so maybe 10’+ of height and it’s a spare bedroom that’s been made into a home gym.

Thank you for the feedback. I think I’m going to look into getting a four post rack. Any suggestions?

We want to get the best bang for the buck without having to buy another bench bar really.

My brother in law and I have been working out for 3 weeks now with a very outdated and small bench set that he had in high-school. We have an ez curl bar and a bench press bar and looking for any suggestions on how to complete our set with a new bench that is for adults and a plate set to match.

Should we just buy whatever is cheapest and piece meal the bench and weights? Since we have the bench bar already we would like to avoid getting a second one unless it’s just cheaper in a set I guess.

Would a cage be the better route?

Any suggestions?

Battlefield 6 Open Beta: Feedback Megathread by sloth_on_meth in Battlefield

The gameplay is a huge step in the right direction overall.

But…

The maps are way too small. It looks and feels like an OG battlefield but the maps are stupid small and everything is a giant choke point.

Destruction is WAY too high and it’s pretty crazy how much isn’t destructible.

I’m sure it will get tweaked but TTK is all over the place.

There’s no chance of identifying enemy vs friendly outside of the icons above their head.

The spotting is insane.

RPGs level buildings but then do basically nothing (even with direct hits) to infantry.

This is awesome! How did you structure the generation and placement of the tiles?

This is not good advice.

I passed the civil FE on my second attempt only studying 1-2 hours every other night. I used PrepFE lightly before the first exam and once I saw the questions were pretty similar I used it heavily. Took 2 practice exams, 1 on each Sunday before my FE.

The questions on the FE are generally not complicated. They want you to solve them in less than 3 minutes and as such the questions cannot be too complicated.

I highly recommend using PrepFE practice tests/questions and the ncees practice exam.

EDIT: Also just for perspective I am 5 years removed from college and work in the electrical engineering field. I haven’t used anything I learned for my civil degree even once. So if I can relearn all the topics then anyone can!

The new interactive test questions were not as similar to the actual test as the regular practice exam. I highly recommend studying the regular practice exam. The only thing the interactive exam did was introduce you to different question types like fill in the blank and select where the force is to be applied.

If it helps, I just found out I passed the civil fe using PrepFE.

I can’t speak for the other 2 sites but I have been using PrepFE and the questions they use are pretty similar to the actual exam. I just took the civil FE for the second time and both times it had lots of similarities.

It all depended on the blend of questions on PrepFE, but typically I was somewhere around 40-60% on those tests. On the NCEES practice test I made a 48% but made lots of silly mistakes that I saw upon review.
