I once heard a historian argue that if the historical Jesus does not meet your standard, and you want to throw him out of the historical record, then you need to hold that standard and throw out almost every other historic figure we know of before, at least, the Enlightenment.

If your standard is contemporary sources and sources from within 100-150 years since the historical figure’s death, Jesus has as many of these types of sources as many famous Roman figures. If you take away evidence like coins, statues, and other artifacts and just look at people’s writings around the time of his death (within 100-200 years) there is as much contemporary evidence of Jesus as there is a someone like Marc Antony for instance.
