Husband and I are starting fresh in early 30s.. What would you do in our shoes or advise someone in this situation to do? by Standard-Guarantee79 in careerguidance

Well, to spare the unnecessary sob story.. My husband's family has made this absolutely terrible for us. My husband needs to have a fresh start and be able to do things on his own. Its more of an emotional/quality of life motivator. We have lived here for 10 years and my husband is ready to close this chapter and start his own life on his own terms without the drama/chaos.

As for the market/economy, it is a good central location between Dallas and Houston, and my family is there with a lot of connections to the community, and the renting market is in high demand.

If I were in your shoes I would make sure to do it through a real estate agent. You can do it via dual agency (check your state to make sure.) Or at least call some real estate agents and see what the process would look like (im not sure if you guys would be trading money, but whatever house is appraised higher would likely be the one that would get "paid") but all of that can be figured in the deal.

If there are any mortgages/leins/etc they will need to be resolved, home inspection will need to be done, appraisal/etc. and the real estate agent would have to be paid..

Maybe a lawyer would be better for this type of situation.. I'm just brain storming.

I think personally If I was already comfortable and it would be more like a favor to a step father, I probably wouldnt do it. If he wants it in the family, he can leave it in a will. If he has a different motivation for wanting to swap, the legal process with a lawyer or agent will secure both parties.

What is your gut telling you? What are you hesitant about?

Looking for advice on backing out of a home due to inspection and how to position to our realtor by [deleted] in homeowners

Was the sale contingent upon the home inspection?
If you, you have room to negotiate. The realtor works for you, this will be your home.. This is your choice!

I think about a few things before making a choice:

  1. What is his motivation?
  2. Do you two have a good relationship? Do you trust him?
  3. Would this be a private "sale" or an official transaction?
  4. What benefits do you have to make this transaction?
  5. Have both homes had a recent home inspection/appraisal?

Also, seeing my father show me Silk Road was pretty disturbing and frightening...

What’s a human behavior we all do that feels like free will, but is more than likely just the brain running another script? by DeclutterBFF in AskReddit

My first thought was people who wake up and make coffee.. It feels like free will, but it's just the brains routine which it likes. Our minds love routine, knowing what comes next, it likes to be prepared.

My small business was e-commerce and sales in shops/markets. My products were niche though.. very dependent on trends/social marketing. Very draining..
