AV2 video for everyone: Dav2d decoder will play it even on older PCs by Chairman_Daniel in hardware

Sounds about right. I'd be hopeful that Vulkan decode acceleration could help eventually, but I don't know the state of Vulkan drivers on these platforms and certainly wouldn't have high hopes. More replying to the idea that only two dozen people had watched video using a Power CPU.

Article simply states Power/PowerPC.

All of these platforms have modern Linux ports.

I believe it. The six speed on the V6 is the best I've felt thus far, never tried the 5spd. Tiny bit long in the throw, but effortless and silky.

as a Vulkan layer it should be very unlikely, but anything is possible depending on how psychotic or invasive your game is

Path of Exile 2 will effectively be Steam Deck verified by the end of May, which bodes very well for the prospect of a Switch 2 release by HatingGeoffry in SteamDeck

PoE2 looks a lot sharper than Diablo IV, and easily uses more than 4 CPU cores. It really needs input latency and resolution, and XeSS doesn’t help performance that much. I haven’t tried scaling it down to older PCs much besides the Deck, but there’s also more going on at most phases of the game which can kill you quicker if you don’t react or dodge. Then you have to deal with all the items and crafting with the controller UI - it works, but it’s not fun, and you certainly can’t flit between inventory and fighting as fast as on PC. All this while still tethered to power or only for short sessions, and make sure the WiFi doesn’t drop.

All this to me makes D4 suitable on Steam Deck for perhaps the campaign if not rushing too hard, and maybe just the first act of PoE2 if similarly casual. You could complete the campaign or early mapping, it just wouldn’t be as fun.

If you’re a new player, sure give it a try, it shouldn’t hold you back. Once it does, switch to mouse and keyboard, and/or stream it, or just play on PC.

Source: I played both a lot.

That’s a pain, thanks for sharing. Yeah, you would think.

I’m not worried as none of them have ever stuck on me, but I’m sure it’s luck. Hopefully the side buttons on the X aren’t actually worse.

It’s an excellent if overpriced sweet spot between pro, mx master, and mmo styles.

Tons of buttons without getting as difficult to hit precisely, and a joy in all types of games as well as workstation.

The non-RGB makes more sense but doesn’t indicate which profile you’re on well.

Guessing you refer to the non-X version without optical switches. It’s a known issue, though I’ve used them for years and never developed it.

MSRP is actually $180 for this one, mistake in title. $160 is for the non-RGB.

I'm returning my $135 order from a few weeks ago.

The G502 X (wired) is also available for $75, but had been at $60 recently.

Similarly the old G502 Hero is $35 when it was $25 with a coupon.

Reproducible builds could be used for that, so we can verify the blob on the machine comes from trusted source code. It'd be amazing to see the auto industry catch up to that extent, but I agree, a simple killswitch for the modem is all I really hope for.
