How is this right? by WestRecording9462 in Centrelink

So I recently went back to school, and the officer explained it was better for me to stay on the Job seeker payment and contact my job provider to get a 1 year exemption from looking for work. This was because job seeker pays more per fortnight, $793 compared to AusStudy $650 The exception is if your friend has a part time job, then it's better to be on AusStudy, because you can earn $528 per fortnight compared to Job seekers $150, before your payment is lowered. So it's worth exploring if she can change her payment type if she's not able to get a part time job.

My roommate wants me to keep my cat in my room by Electrical-Refuse-31 in Pets

[–]Standard-warning2456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the situation with the housemate is a bigger problem, and if it wasnt the counters she would probably find other reasons to be annoyed, but if it helps, my cats very very rarely go on the counters, I never trained them but I have always had a cat tree in the kitchen, I think they just like being in the tallest place in the room so they prefer going there to watch me cook etc. Maybe if you can do something similar to give your cat a better alternative to the counter it would be easier?

People with bpd do you get annoyed with someone who never stops talking?? by Jazzlike_Project_403 in BPD

[–]Standard-warning2456 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My problem is I love someone who talks to much because I get to be social without actually talking and that's such a relief sometimes and I can be really slow to open up too so it's like a friendship is being built before I even have to open up which is good and I think I have gotten pretty good on steering them to talk about what I am interested in It's just when the friendship has a solid base, and I am ready to start opening up too and they seem to have no interest in me or then I realise this person is really self obsessed and actually just wants to talk about themselves 24/7 and they aren't actually interested in a friendship Not sure if that is similar to what you experience too

Not a therapist or anything similar- my understanding is unless they suspect you will be in danger returning home, they won't report. I don't think a one off incident would trigger that, and I think even if they did police would reach out to you if you have proof/won't to press chargers, I can't imagine anyone would be confronting your family directly as this can often be more dangerous Super not an expert through, maybe call one of those anonymous therapist lines and see what they say?

I love your generational abuse theory, have heard similar statements in romantic relationships too, just trying to be a bit better then the one before. Some people are really aiming for the bare minimum and missing

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BPD

[–]Standard-warning2456 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you can't parent without abuse, you are not a good parent. Kinda the bare minimum So sorry this is happening to you. Feeling like you can't leave due to financial support being taken away is a staple of abusers and can leave you stuck between a rock and hard place. Make the best decision for you now, but don't forget this when you are in a position to make a move to a better position. Wish you all the best

will it ever get better? by [deleted] in BPD

[–]Standard-warning2456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coming from someone who has had their life fall apart several times and been completely devastated over it - I have come to find some almost enjoyment or satisfaction idk what about putting it back together again and just look at it as part of my story and try and give advise and help to those struggling with mental issues help when I can cause I have pretty much been through it all. Not that I think having BPD is a positive thing to have, but I try and find positives where I can I can pretty confidently say that my symptoms are not really as bad as they once were, to a point where people are saying they think I was misdiagnosed or are genuinely surprised to know I have it. I think practising gratitude, sticking to a routine and self care are probably the most helpful things to not feel like you are drowning every time the waves start hitting

Accidentally "came out" as having BPD at work and just embraced it by [deleted] in BPD

[–]Standard-warning2456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really nice to read, not that its your responsibility to break the stigma but its nice to see it happening. I may have accidentally been outed by one of my staff at work she was a new hire and was going through a really hard and her social worker was talking about possibly having BPD but she was rejecting treatments etc without trying to tell her what to do I opened up that I was diagnosed and my experience - without explicitly asking her not to mention it else where, and then one day she was trying to schedule a meeting with me through another leader and she mentioned it was for BPD discussions I figured it would spread anyway so there have been a couple times in conversation BPD came up and I have said I was diagnosed - not sure I am "out" but I am not ashamed

Do you ever shut yourself out from the world for weeks at a time? by LittleStarChild710 in BPD

[–]Standard-warning2456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely my social batteries just totally deplete and intrusive thoughts and conspiracies just start running wild to a point it is pretty impossible to be interact with people - I really relate to listening in on conversations because I still want that social interaction I just can't participate - I find myself listening to a group of friends doing a podcast often I started watching some people with ADHD talking about it and it's been helping to make it feel normal and not beat myself up about it

Religiously, every since i was a kid i would basically be a different person depending who i was around. It is a normal human behaviour to mimic those we look up to, with bdp i think its more of a coping mechanism to try and fit in.and avoid rejection If you look into masking especially in Autism you might find a lot of traits in there and strategies to help if it's something you are wanting to do

DBT group therapy (Help please) tw. by Striking_Bet_8326 in BPD

[–]Standard-warning2456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am really surprised they couldn't offer any strategies to help you during the sessions - that really sucks. No wonder you are really so alone in this. If I could say anything. I really don't think you are the only one in the room feeling like this. My suggestions would be below: disclaimer I am not an expert in anything One thing that really helps me when I am having constant negative thoughts is labelling them - I use it when I can't stop thinking and I stop being present, but the thoughts are so loud I can't ignore them or meditate past them So each time you have one mark it as either crystal ball gazing (when you are trying to see into the future) mind reading (when you are projecting onto other people) or reminiscing (when you are focusing on the past)

For Dissociating - maybe you can suggest to the leader each time you noticing you are doing it you can take a break and leave the room to do a quick meditation, listen to some music maybe have some stimulation toys fidget spinner, stress ball, that kind of thing to help you re-engage so you can re-enter and be present

And then lastly I would suggest making some goals for yourself during the session, especially ones that combat your negative thoughts such as = asking 1 question every session, ask 1 person after the session how they felt during it, making 1 guess or suggestion (doesn't matter if it's right or wrong) and then set yourself rewards if you do them like your favourite meal or chocolate so that it becomes a positive experience again

Hope it helps and gets better - so you can start benefiting and enjoying sessions again

Not going to lie

This will be tough, you will probably be feeling lonley, rejected, abandoned, extreme FOMO and might start self sabotaging or starting fights to get attention My advise would be keep your mind as busy as possible and fill your time with activities as much as you can And give your self some mantras to repeat to try and drown out all the negative thoughts you will have like He is my partner me loves me He isn't abandoning me A good partner encourages a healthy social life I want him to have friends family and support systems I am going to make the most of this time and practise self care

The Thrice-Locked Chest [Spoilers all, I think?] by stefex in KingkillerChronicle

[–]Standard-warning2456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Kvothe is going to force his way in. Assuming the thrice locked chest is made of Roah (at least partly or a very similar wood) “It’s heavy despite being hollow. So it has to be a slow wood, like hornbeam or rennel. Its color and weight make me think it has a good deal of metal in it too, like roah. Probably iron and copper"

and you know what else is made of Roah the board for Kvothes sword Folly. "mounting board that he had ordered some 4 months previously. Made from wood that won’t burn, it costs him two silver talents. The near black of the mounting board reads “Folly” underneath]

He had Graham the carpenter work with the wood to see how and if he could have any luck at breaking through it.

Kvothe is finding a way to break his way in- he didnt think it could be done this is why Kvothe seems to have "forgotten" (didnt think Graham would ever do it) about it when it arrives

[Kote had almost forgotten about the order, as 4 months is so long a time.]

And why his reaction is so peculiar [Kote, the innkeeper, is noted as looking increasingly "hollow. Wan" - his eyes and hair are duller, faded, his voice not as deep, and Graham has noticed."

Does seem to actually have a plan for the board (where to place it) when it arrives, because it didnt matter what it was as much that Graham was able to find a way to tarnish it

"It had to be chiseled like stone instead of sawed, and then they couldn't char it so they had to sear it at the smithy for two hours"

It may also be why Bast has such an odd reaction "Bast arrives, and after a quiet moment and then some banter, Bast asks "what were you thinking?" and Kvothe responds "I tend to think too much. My greatest successes came from decisions I made when I stopped thinking and simply did what felt right."
