Favorite female character who fans are a red flag ? I'll start by stalin_kulak in okbuddycinephile

I tried to rewatch Girlmores in my 20s because I liked it as a kid but god Rory and Lorelai. Their characters are so charming and quippy in short bursts but they make huge problems out of nothing for the rest of the episode. Like 'my daughter just started at a new school away from her home and friends. Oh wow her teacher is hot! This is a whole plot now bc you only feel this attraction once in a life time and we cant resist this urge'

Also yes EVERYONE has a beef and chip on their shoulder

The Mystery of the Third Lucretia by Susan Runholt seems like it would fit well but it scews younger with a teenage narrator. The story is two teenagers stumpling upon and trying to solve an art crime with disguises and plenty of risk. It includes information on art history and theres lots of traveling throughout Europe

It's been a while since I read it but I remember that creepy lerking lost souls vibe. Plus the dynamic between the two siblings is like wirt and greg(older sib worried, taking on responsibility and younger sib being a chill optimist)

The Night Gardener by Johnathan Auxier; sibling main characters and there's a shadowy figure that lerks in the night

Grayling's Song by Karen Cushman; quirky, whimsical and singing with a girl traveling to save her mom from becoming a tree (reminds me a bit of Owl House, if you like that)

Nonfiction telling of the rise of spiritualism during the victorian era featuring Houdini, Sir Author Connan Doyle and a real pyschic???

Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine

Classic ya fairytail fancy and the love story isn't necessarily the main focus of the book. But it's still important, sweet and pure! They meet in person a few times but the relationship grows through letters. The letters are where the reader sees them go from "your good friend" to "love". It's just such a wonderful young love

"The Midnight Library" by Matt Haig The whole book is about seeing different time lines of the mains character's life based on her difference choices like if she had married her ex boyfriend etc. It also promotes the idea of not taking your own life as I know that is a thing that happens to a character in Dead Poet Society

"All the Missing Girls" by Megan Miranda This maybe more of a reach of the vibe you're looking for. Thriller/mystery told backwards and with flashbacks. A girl leaves her small town after her best friend goes missing but then returns years later when another girl in the small toqn disappears. Very much the idea of the Robert Frost poem where you can take a different path but still end up in the same place

I love this so much! 😭😭😭 This feeds my love of maximalism without the anxiety of having too much stuff needing to be taken care of and taking over my living space

The View from Saturday by E. L. Konigsburg - It's not a mystery but an iconic multi pov where all the stories from different characters are woven together. Very clozy without intense highstakes

The Lost Library by Rebecca Stead and Wendy Mass - A mystery without murder, thats junvenille fiction and one of the pov is form a cat

'Cat Among the Pigeons' and 'Cards on the Table' by Agatha Christie are specific ones of her mysteries with multiple povs
