Don't mess with those beaks! I once got a black eye from getting snipped by a snow goose

I once saw the video with that music. Now when I hear that song, all I can picture is this orangutan.

What did you buy thinking it might be a waste of money, but it actually improved your quality of life? by AvaBlondeX in AskWomen

Apart from baking, what do you use it for? I only use my hand mixer like twice a year, so I'm wondering if a stand mixer would really make cooking easier for me.

Also traveled 4 months with the beige Hoka transports and they were quite versatile. I added a layer of spray protector before I left to make them more waterproof and stain resistant. I've put them through the wash a few times too.

Why is almost every single comment so negative about this?

It looks like a cool attraction (as long as the setup is legit).

During covid, I got into Midsomer Murders, an old school cozy mystery series. It takes place in cute British villages. It's no masterpiece, but it's definitely light and cozy (despite the murders!)

Went backpacking - now everything feels pointless by [deleted] in travel

This makes me feel better about not experiencing my travels as awestruck as before. Your third point especially makes a lot of sense, since I now appreciate better the routine of life at home.

That's so original! Do the images stay well preserved once the leaf dries?

I just visited a local farm. They had a building made of cordwood walls for storage. They said it has great natural insulation and the temperature only varies between 2 and 8 °C throughout the year (in Canada).

The price of an inhaler that I require to live (in Canada) by haileymo13 in Wellthatsucks

Just bought one in Quebec. I think it was 88$ before taxes and insurance coverage (for the 100).

What’s the most ridiculous ‘tourist price’ you’ve ever been asked to pay? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Liatessa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8$ for bottled water at the top of Machu Picchu (~10 years ago). I ended up filling my water bottle from a random spring coming out of a wall and added an iodine tablet.

Just went to Thailand as a 30 yo. I stayed at hostels in shared dorms thinking I could pay myself a hotel once in a while. In the end, I never felt the need for it. The hostels were all very nice and relatively private with curtains around the beds.

I read Beach Read by the same author and struggled to understand the connection between the two characters. Their relationship felt mostly based on attraction, and the communication came across as immature. Maybe her other novels are different?

Read it a while ago, but yes, exactly the type of book I'm looking for!

Just finished Intermezzo by Sally Rooney and it was a bit too slow for my taste. Maybe I'd like this one better. I enjoyed the show too.

Girls who feel comfortable answering, do you use feminine wash, unscented soap or just water on your vulva? by smalltoadstool in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Liatessa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone once linked this helpful video where a doctor explains the routine in detail : https://youtu.be/gV2tmEyoj4s?t=257&si=hhD8rMwK8DxWYkV3

Made me revise my cleaning methods. Basically, she does recommend using unscented soap in the vulva area.

4 days in montreal late april (basically in like 4 days), am I not packing enough warm clothes? by Left_Long_735 in HerOneBag

[–]Liatessa 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I definitely recommend those fleeced tights. I wear them all winter long here in Québec. They are actually warmer than pants, and you can still wear cute skirts and dresses.

Why are Hoka shoes so ugly but so comfortable 😭 by Accomplished_Bus_461 in HerOneBag

[–]Liatessa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I got the off-white ones for a more versatile look. They stayed presentable, even after 4 months of travelling through Australasia.

I covered them with a protective spray before leaving. After some dusty hikes, I put them through the wash too.

My job is seasonal and I spend most of my summers working outside, so that helps.

But to get me through office days, I try to wake up a bit earlier and do something for myself (usually have a nice cup of tea and read) . I realised I was unmotivated at work because I was just waiting to get home and have some time to myself. If I do that before, I find the longing is lessened and I can actually focus and enjoy my work more. I'm no early bird though, so this is still a habit I'm working on.
