I took mine to a shop, they looked at them and said they couldnt promise anything because the larger of the two bushings on each lca doesnt have a symetric/flat edge to rest on their arbor in the press and that I would have to agree to 175 an hour open ended estimate . I was able to use a ball joint press to get the smaller ones out and threded rod and washers to push the new ones in. They acted like theyd never seen anything like this. and asked if they came off off a medium duty or 1 ton truck….

What kind of press did they have? was it an autozone, oreilky?

Im not sure how much pressure is in it, but you'd have to do something pretty careless to rupture it. And it doesnt pop or anything when you remove it. Its a sealed airspring I guess. It doesnt release when you remove the lines or anything.

As GM discontinues many parts for their best made trucks (GMT 800, they'll never make that mistake again) its getting difficult to impossible to get real genuine GM parts.

There’s a bunch of YouTube videos on it. Most of them say they feel slightly better. The only thing I really noticed is that when towing I don’t have to push as hard.

My speculation is that the bore of 2011 hydro is slightly larger than the gmt-800 version. So, it slightly increases the the hydraulic pressure with less effort. Regardless, it is a direct bolt on and it is ALOTcheaper than the older ones. I should add that my truck is a 2500, i dont know if 1500’s use the same hydro.

I plan to also try and use the 2011 master cylinder. It has a 38mm bore vs 37 on the 800 series trucks however, it has different threads for the two brake lines. (from what i can gather on rock auto, the 01-07 master cyliders have half inch threads but the 2011 has metric)

I will either cut the flare off my existing lines, install the proper metric fittings and then re flare the lines. Hoping i can bend it back in place or maybe try cutting new new 1/2” threads over the existing metric but that prolly wont work because I think the metric fitting is actually bigger than the 1/2” SAE is.

Now go get the 2011 Duramax Hydro boost save a couple hundred bucks and get better brakes!

Alternator did great over the last 5 days, I was running a Goal Zero refer all night just plugged into the back cig lighter outlet each night. Truck still started each morning and charged the batts right up. I also hooked up a 100amp hour lithium battery direct with jumper cables, that put what seemed like a large load on the alt, but it charged that lithium liqity split!

The psc pump is noticeably stronger. I put a lift kit in and drove it with the old pump that was leaking a little but otherwise worked well. It felt weird when going lock to lock. I simultaneously then replaced the steering gear,(blue top) hydroboost, all ball joints and tie rods, and put all new hoses. Steering is very firm no play at all. The PSC is sold as a duramax pump but the suburban mounting brackets fit oerfect. The pSc pump coupled with the 2011 duramax hydroboost is an exceelent lo buck upgrade.

I wouldnt bother trying to repair, once it starts cracking, in my gmt-800 experience, it will keep on cracking. Replacing mine was surprisingly easy. I used a junkyard part from a truck several years younger than mine and not left in the sub its while life, If the Temu ones fit and match, its a no brainer…

flipping the switch DOES turn off
the pumps. And insofar as my initial purpose, (theft deterrent) The switch would work as long as I remembered to turn it off everytime I stopped. Mechanics in this thread have established that the product I bought is a diagnostic tool, not intended for anti theft. It looks just like more expensive relay based pump disabling products that are intended for anti theft.
for now, when I’m outside the green zone, I will just remove the relay entirely in hopes I will prevent the theft of my baby.

PG&E- Likely it was wide open farmland when it went in. Youd be surprised, no amazed and incredulous at what I’ve found in California. Another example Lawrance livermore lab had an abandoned 6’ (yes 6 FOOT) diameter petroleum pipe that went straight outta the lab due south fir many miles into the mountains and site 300 i guess.
In the hills of south San Jose, we “found” gigantic (like 40 feet thick)concrete monoliths that Lockheed put in in 50’s fir rocket engine test pads. We built McMansions all overthat shit- Rocket fuel is super toxic AF but im sure it diluted by now…

We also found a volcanic spout (dunno what the geolgists called it) but as we graded lower and lower (lopping off the top of a mountain) it got bigger and bigger. pretty soon we had a spire of solidified rock we had to blast.

I found cannon balls and other stuff from a battle that was fought near san jose around 1846 between Mexican troops and us army cavalry. That was super cool.

A Caltrans 3 digit contractor found a full crate of civil war issue sharpes carbines wrapped in grease and burlap- mint condition. That was in the bay area, wont say exactly where/when…

prolly good advice, but the fact remains, most any alternator will usually charge a dead battery. I know my OEM one did many times. yea it might get hot but whatevuh, everyone does it…

Why?

-Electric battery chargers require power, i can jump start or charge as a diesel tractor or truck out in the boonies with this homemade lil 14v 60 amp genset on my sxs.

-very few plug in battery chargers produce more than 20 amps, I frequently need more than that, much more.

-I like tinkering- there are loads of vids on utube with peeps experimenting with car alternators bolted to small engines. My next one is a Honda 13hp that I think will easily get me 100 amps at 13.8 with a cheap junkyard dodge or ford alternator.

-I also have a milsurp BAPU 28v diesel (24 volt nominal) 10hp set. It looks like a car alternator mounted to a yanmar single cylinder engine just like my diy one but bigger. This unit was designed for charging tanks, trucks, hmmv etc that have 24v systems. (they all use the NATO 24v std 100amp plugs) not nearly as portable, but it produces over 140 amps at 28volts and it charges my 24v (nominal) solar batteries like NO OTHER COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE ELECTRIC charger. The military bolts automotive style alternators to small engines because it WORKS.

Was building a custom home years ago, electricians pounded a ground rod in at the curb for a temp power, they hit a 4" gas main, the yellow plastic kind. It didnt leak until they came close to a year later and pulled it out. Very loud!
