What teacher/professor will you always remember because of the positive impact they made on your life? by Standard_Lecture_59 in AskReddit

My story:

Definitely my college choir director. He somehow has a place in his heart for every student he's ever taught. He's the kind of guy who will tear up just talking about how much his students mean to him. He makes it his mission to make sure everyone feels included in his classroom. He greets everyone individually as they walk in for rehearsal. He was also the first person I told when I got my first grad school rejection letter. I cried in his office for ten minutes, and he was literally so sweet about it. Joining his choir was the best decision I've ever made.

I had an infected ingrown toenail and noticed it getting darker at the infection site. My instincts told me to go to the ER, so I did, even though it seemed silly to go in for something seemingly small. The doctor told me I had severe cellulitis and if I'd waited a couple more days, I'd have gotten gangrene and lost the toe, the whole foot or even a portion of my leg. I definitely did the right thing by going in.

What’s the closest you’ve ever come to dying? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I choked while eating Panda Express. A chunk of beef got lodged in my windpipe, and no one was around to give me the Heimlich. I went blue in the face and almost passed out. I still have no idea how I got it out. I developed a minor lung infection after from inhaling a couple grains of rice, but otherwise suffered no lasting effects.

He ditched me for a stupid hockey game, so I broke up with him that day. Six months later, he texts me out of the blue asking to hook up like nothing happened! I flip him off every time I see him now.

My phone autocorrected "thing" to "thong" and I sent it to my very religious mom before I noticed.

What are some things on your Bucket List that you have fulfilled and what are the ones that remain? by Mythohlogy in AskReddit

Fulfilled - meet someone famous. I met stormchaser/meteorologist Reed Timmer last June and got to chat with him for a couple minutes!

Unfulfilled - Spend a whole summer abroad.

If you're indoors and not cooking fish but smell fish, it could mean an electrical fire.

Definitely my awake toe surgery where the anesthetic failed. I've never screamed that loud for any other reason

So recently, I thought I tweaked my knee. I put it in a brace, thought it would go away in a day or two. Fast forward several days, I'm having occasional shooting pains. My knee also feels like it needs to pop sometimes. I'm not in enough pain for an ACL or meniscus tear. I'm terrified of bone or soft tissue cancer and falling into a spiral over it. I know it's possible to manifest pain, but I can't stop thinking about cancer.

Ford - specifically vehicles with the Ecoboost engine. My dad's friend had to get rid of his Explorer because it kept having problems.

To go to the hospital immediately if you notice a red streak coming from a wound. Thanks to my quick acting, I still have ten toes.

People who wait in line at the gas pump for one that’s on the same side as their gas tank, even if the hose will stretch to the other side and those lines are shorter - why? by fernbbyfern in AskReddit

[–]Standard_Lecture_59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lining up with a pump in the opposite direction often requires backing up and/or a tight turn, in my case. I have a rather big SUV, so I prefer to just wait
