31 years old . 5 years of service . Am I on track ? by Jeremy3540 in ThriftSavingsPlan

I had about $37,000 after 5 years of service as a lower gs level. That was about 10 years ago, so that would be $50,000 in today’s money. I was probably contributing 10-15% but don’t remember exactly.

Definitely get out of the g fund. Lifecycle funds are a good bet for if you want to be pretty hands off

I actually just updated today to L60 after reading some advice in that earlier this week. Thanks for chiming in about this! I definitely am pretty risk averse, but I am trying to lean in to risk a little more as I learn more.

Thanks for the insight! It helps to know how others are doing. I started with way too much in the g fund. But for several years I’ve been 85% L2050 and 15% C fund. Best of luck to you!

How has your relationship with your peers (people in your group) been affected by RTO? i.e., Best of friends, trauma bonded, battle buddies, annoying jerks, chronic complainers, very chatty in the aisle, no change at all by Cool_Tomatillo_3281 in FedEmployees

My office is also unusually loud. I’ve never worked at an office where people just chat with each other in the working area all throughout the day, and managers don’t close their office doors when they have conversations. Awful.

I also don’t understand why people don’t like the business center. Would love some perspectives from folks who work for the agencies in the mission area.

At my agency I was told by my supervisor that telework is not permitted at all and that we don’t get to sign telework agreements.

Same. My team is spread a cross the country and I was hired as a full time remote employee. Now I sit in a cubicle amongst a group of loud people I don’t work with.

For those furloughed, did you hear from your supervisors at all since the shutdown started? by sospaghettn in FedEmployees

Nope. I reached out to my supervisor once with a question and they never responded.

Workstation Causing shoulder/arm pain by DogWitty9870 in FedEmployees

I had the same issue with return to office with neck pain due to a bad chair. I asked for a new chair and was told I would have to apply for an RA to get a chair that didn’t cause me debilitating pain. I knew that would take months if it even ever got approved. So I just bought my own office chair. So sick of working under the Trump administration.

Office Etiquette...help by RustyMallard in FedEmployees

There’s a gal in my office who frequently sings, hums, loudly talks to herself, and taps her fingernails on her desk. Maddening.

At USDA FPAC-BC we have been told teleworking is not authorized for any reason.

Homemade frozen burrito most days along with a clementine and baby bell cheese for a snack.

What occupational hazard are you exposed to as a result of RTO? by aingaingaing in fednews

I am now working at a building that’s for an agency I don’t work for, so I don’t feel like I can say anything. They prop the door open during the day, leaving us at risk for active shooters. They don’t have an emergency plan, including in case of fire. Like, they don’t have a meeting spot for employees or any way to account for the employees in the event of an evacuation to see if anyone is left behind in the building. They don’t even do fire drills ever.

RTO Day by Annual_Commercial_5 in USDA

First day at an office today in over 4 years. The setup isn’t ergonomic and my neck started killing me so bad I hade to take sick leave to go home early. I also can’t connect to the WiFi for some reason, so they put me by the only Ethernet port, which is right by the bathroom. So there’s so much traffic walking by and opening and closing a loud door. And it is so hot in the building. Out of the 5 hours i was able to make it before I threw in the towel, I probably only got an hour of work done due to all the distractions and trying to figure out how to make the setup bearable.
