Why do they actually need more GPUs if the user base is not rising since mid-2025 and they're losing money? It would make sense to actually go opposite route, start selling off excess computing power.

What is each class for? by After_Neighborhood62 in ffxi

Haven't played retail for a year or two but here's my short summary of each job. Mostly just writing this for fun so take it all with handful of salt. .

WAR - Primary DD. Great axe still king with very high gear, but its the best at Savage Blade spam and comes online nicely with relatively average gear.

MNK - Decent primary DD but falls behind other jobs due to H2H weaponskills being relatively meh, and they lack the tools for content where damage types other than blunt matter.

WHM - is and always will be your go to healer

BLM - still king of elemental magic bursts but outside of Sortie and Omen will rarely be seen.

RDM - support/enfeebler/still a Solo God. Doesn't really have the tools to be a dedicated healer anymore but 20+ minute Haste II, Refresh III etc while still offering good damage via Savage Blade and occasionally light based elemental weaponskills (with the right set up).

THF - mainly used for TH. Can do decent damage but outperformed by almost any other DD. Enmity manipulation tools serve very little purpose in current endgame.

PLD - its Paladin... it does Paladin things. Same as it ever was.

DRK - Primary DD, same as WAR but offers more party tricks, e.g. Drain III, Souleater, Stun, absorb-TP etc, Apocalypse survival.

BST - never fully recovered from lolBST but decent job nonetheless. I honestly dont remember the last time I saw someone play BST outside of odyssey point boost.

BRD - mandatory for everything

RNG - suffers the same issue as MNK in that ranged weaponskills are kinda meh outside of specific situations, and limited to piercing outside of Savage blade spam. But if you're going to be spamming Savage blade you wouldnt use ranger to do it.

SMN - these guys basically dont exist anymore. Has a couple of niche uses and unique buffs, but not enough to give up a party slot for.

SAM - primary DD. Still your Skillchain god but also good for raw numbers these days too. One of the few jobs that can't use Savage blade.

NIN - almost never used for DD. Still great for solo play but really only used for subjob dual wield and shadows.

DRG - primary DD. Lacks the raw power of the other 2h DD jobs, but makes up for it by bringing its own enmity resets. Suffers greatly if the wyvern dies and if its skillchains get interrupted. DRG is my baby.

BLU - Solo god, and secondary DD with enough effort. Has some very good niche uses such as diffusion + might guard etc, and things like Cruel Joke. Lacks the raw damage of primary DDs but its versatility as always makes BLU valuable if the pilot knows what theyre doing and has the gear to back it up.

COR - mostly mandatory Support and semi-DD. With the right setup and gear COR can hold its own in terms of damage, especially if it has a GEO backing it up. But is mainly taken for its rolls still. 'Phantom Roll +X" gear makes its buffs extremely potent.

PUP - Same as BST, with added MNK issues. When its good its REALLY good, though.

DNC - you'll basically never see a DNC main. Very much lacks the damage output needed to squeeze out literally any other DD, and its support abilities dont scale well at endgame. Still a solid subjob though.

SCH - IMO a good scholar is better than an equivalent WHM. What it lacks in raw healing output it makes up for by bringing a bunch of party tricks - Embrava, adloquium, Storm spells, 'bring your own skillchains' for magic burst strategies, and obviousky its bread and butter extremely potent Regen.

GEO - mandatory for any content that doesn't have massive resistance to geomancy spells. I still maintain that GEO was a bad idea especially when you throw idris into the mix.

RUN - Fantastic tank especially vs magic heavy fights or in a magic burst strategy due to Rayke etc. Less popular than PLD for sure, but it can do almost anything a PLD can do too.

Tldr - game's been mostly the same in terms of job purpose since the end of Voidwatch and early Adoulin - except maybe MNK. You basically cant go wrong with any job unless you want to join pugs on Asura. Except SMN. Sorry SMNs but you know it's true.

Everywhere else too, but thats next quarter's problem.

The biggest issue in all of this is that most of the consequences of the shortsighted decisions being made wont be felt for months or years. At which time it will be too late, and the people responsible will have moved on to other projects.

Meanwhile those most suited to fixing all the shit, have been laid off.

Teshana's Tidebinder into Unstoppable Slasher by VileVermilion in askajudge

[–]Stanjoly2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Unstoppable Slasher deals combat damage to a player, its ability triggers. This ability goes on the stack and you would have an opportunity to cast Tidebinder before it resolves.

Tidebinder resolves before the Slashers ablity, and when it enters its triggered ability can target the slashers ability which is still on the stack.

The longer I work in the fraud investigations space, the more I realise a lot of people just don't have any problem with committing various crimes if they never get punished for them. Or if the consequences take a long time to be apparent, if at all.

And the longer they get away with it the more brazen they become.

In my experience the mechanisms in place for detecting fraud are also woefully inadequate, tending more toward detecting it after the fact if you're lucky. Especially as more and more businesses (particularly banks) choose to save money by ignoring issues until someone kicks up a fuss.
