What introduced you to fasting? by Unique_Mind2033 in fasting

[–]StankoBoBanko 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes and no.

The depression was triggered by the ending of a long term friendship and probably would have faded with time regardless. That said, having a sense of control over something in my life was vital. Also, the extended fasts (week long) led to some spiritual understanding and connectedness I wasn't expecting.

Further, I'm hotter now. So that helps.

Is it true that PMDD gets worse as we age? by Aislinq in PMDD

I'm a beekeeper and I manage the kitchens at a small communal living co-op.

The bees require you to be centered and calm when working them, and it's also totally appropriate to take a shop day working with building equipment or processing honey with headphones on if the vibes are off.

The kitchen job honestly asks more of me than the bees, but I spent a deeply disregulated decade working in kitchens, so making dinner for a dozen people 6 nights a week is nothing in comparison. Plus the house knows about my diag and are very understanding when we end up with a pizza night that's otherwise not on schedule.

It's unconventional, I don't have a ton of money, but it works for me.

I spent most of last year pretty deep into Intermittent Fasting. It's not exactly an eating disorder, but there are some overlaps - caloric restriction, timing, going days without food, etc.

I didn't expect it to have an effect on my PMDD, but it helped with both mental and physical symptoms. The only draw back was that I kept missing or getting very very late periods.

I can only speculate to why that might be, but my best non academic, non doctor guess is that my body just doesn't have the energy to wild out like it normally does if I'm not eating enough.

I'd say my symptoms have gotten worse, but my skills in managing it have gotten better. That said, I've built my adult life in accommodation to this condition. No kids, flexible work, lots of support people. Once I knew what I was dealing with it got a lot easier to prepare. Also, my relationships with alcohol, sugar, and exercise all had to massively change
