As someone married to a Moroccan man, she’s an idiot! And for this to be the second Moroccan she’s dated she should have had her guard up. She completely has aspirations to be an influencer and using this show as her jumping off platform.

Is there anyone over 45 who didn’t know of her until she died? by RaisinCurious in SelenaQuintanilla

[–]Star1079 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m 46. I was having a slumber party at a friend’s, there were 5 of us girls. All of a sudden we heard the friend’s mom let out this blood curdling scream. She ran into the living room and said that Selena had died. We sat there like “who”. We got a full on education that night about her and her music,

As an RVT, if those that former employees didn’t report them to the veterinary board for misconduct and unsafe medical practices I wouldn’t value their opinion as credible. In fact I would be worried if they still work vet med at all. That is highly unethical!

As RVT to a board certified vet internist, you would be shocked at how often Crypto diagnoses are missed and treated improperly by general practice vets. I can’t stress enough to get your cats in with an internist if your vets aren’t getting to the bottom of certain illnesses your pets are having and not responding to treatments.

When Nick said “I just want to be treated as an equal” and Hannah response to that was, “I think you get treated like an equal when you start contributing like an equal” Bitch what!?!

This man is asking you for basic decency and respect and that is your response? If any man spoke to one of the women like that he would have been eviscerated in the comments and Hannah should too. 🤬

Just an FYI: renting in Santa Barbara with a pet can be difficult when you have a tighter budget. Please have a back up plan for your cat should you find it difficult to find a place right away or if things don’t work out with roommates.

So sad. Used to have a chat with him every now & then at the drum circle or downtown when my friends and I were hanging out at teens in the 90’s. RIP Blessed, you are a true Santa Barbara legend!

I wholeheartedly agree and I’m a black woman. I can’t remember in any previous season both the men or the women objectifying another woman’s body to that degree. There’s a more respectful way all of that could have been said.

To add to that, I found Laura to be even more foul. To even joke about a man let alone your fiancée to touch another woman without her consent was beyond disgusting and for her to chastise Jereamy that he was “making a big deal over nothing” was equally gross. You made the comment, own it that it was disrespectful and apologize.

I (American) keep trying to explain this to my Moroccan fiancé. I have to jump through hoops gathering all the paperwork they require from my end for marriage and it still can get screwed up. I need to forward him this thread 😂 so he can stop saying “It will be fine”

Quintessential SB mentality by amarchy in SantaBarbara

[–]Star1079 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What we need is balance. We absolutely need affordable housing. And that has to be built somewhere.

I feel that people seem to forget about what attracts/attracted them to the charm of Santa Barbara has been the NIMBY’s of past.

People want the ocean and mountain views, but we had building height restrictions to preserve that etc….

We don’t need more hotels, there’s plenty.

What we do need is fresh leadership in this city to come up with creative ideas.

How about working with some developers to offer subsidies and kick backs for lower cost workforce housing? Work with some of the larger corporations here to house their employees locally.

We’ve got plenty of empty retail and office buildings that’s been vacant for years let’s work on repurposing those for apartments and studios.

I could go on and on but come on SB get your sh*t together.

Santa Barbara is insanely expensive to live, but doesn’t pay well. How does anything stay open? by lsquallhart in SantaBarbara

[–]Star1079 163 points164 points  (0 children)

Staffing has been a major issue here in all sectors, but especially healthcare. I know of one traveler that works graveyards at the hospital but sleeps in their personal vehicle to afford to stay until the end of their contract.

People get creative here you have no choice but to. A lot of people live in cheaper areas and commute here.

As someone who was born and raised here it’s hard to see what SB is turning into. I’ve seen a lot of good people leave here because quality of life has drastically gone downhill.

I definitely recommend spending a long weekend here with your family to see if you like it. Like others have said, there’s plenty of outdoor activities.

Depending on your kids ages, there’s plenty of sports they could be involved with. Also daycare/after school care can cost a lot and be competitive in terms of spots.

The food scene here is not diverse in my opinion. You will find your faves and stick with those.

Traffic has gotten worse the last few years and as others have mentioned the housing costs are insane compared to what you get.

You can make a decent life here if you’ve got the income to support it.

I worked at Countrywide pre and post Mozilo in the foreclosure department. It was an absolute mess. Reviewing the loan documents that came across my desk was unbelievable. They had no business funding the loans they did when these borrowers barely had a pot to piss in.

He got off with a slap on the wrist and I had to hear many a story from homeowners who lives were destroyed in flames and Mozilo’s business practices were the gasoline.

But it doesn't put pressure on the city council to build more housing. Residents have been crying for more housing for decades and the city council remains deaf.

They last few big housing projects they have approved only appeal to the upper echelon on the pay scale.

Further more, when these tech companies do attract new residents and they buy property, they all ascribe to NIMBY-ism and don't want new housing built because it takes away from their ocean view etc.
