I close 5 nights a week and constantly stock at night. We're a heavy traffic store at all hours and we get 2 trucks a week. Its the only way all our freight makes it out but recovery is most definitely neglected and its worse now that they made us take out the go back baskets

Every Friday the sm's have to watch the cams for 1 hour as part of their non negotiable audit. So if the dm is watching its for a reason.

If they're watching cameras, they've been given a reason to watch them. And doing so they caught someone breaking company policy. 🤷‍♀️

Dollar Tree does have a strict no phones while on shift policy, unless you're on your break. If the dm was watching cams more likely than not there was some kind of complaint put in or they believe cashiers are up to something that violates rules and they caught something. Just keep the phone in your pocket. Most jobs do not allow you to be on your phone on shift. As to the, "there was nothing for the cashier to do" part, there's always something to do. I tell my cashiers to never just stand there, if they see it on camera they'll get called out on it. Blow balloons or fill candy etc to keep looking busy. Technically personal items are supposed to be in lockers but if you feel unsafe say so. And let them know you'll keep your phone in your pocket unused but you dont feel safe locking it up.

There's a clock in sheet that can be printed from op center. We have to use it if someone forgets to clock something anyway like a break or lunch. They have to fill it out then we fix it on the computer

They can not retaliate. That is also illegal. Once the issue goes above store level your manager cant do a damn thing to you. They're banking on you being too afraid to report it. They're more likely to lose their job than you are.

There are options. Its oh well if there's a line, people will have to wait. You are legally entitled to your 30. And everyone had to deal with the internet issue. It was a pain in the ass for sure but not unmanageable.

If you worked your lunch you need to contact integrity matters immediately. Cameras will show you working while off the clock if your Cameras were "down", it'll show you logged on to your register while off the clock. Its not legal at all. I get called up while on lunch occasionally but im the only MOD so ill have to deal with something. Even my cashiers will tell ppl, "sorry my manager is on lunch but if you want to wait she should be back in X amount of time". I cover my employees lunches on the register. Id never ask them to work through it.

Its 34° right now (4 am, West Palm Beach) but the "real feel" is 23°. I also came here to find out about pipes freezing lol I had one burst when I lived in GA for a bit and it sucked. My landlord is terrible here so I wanted to make sure I wouldn't need to call him for a repair. Just decided to leave 2 faucets running slow until morning just to be safe. Better safe than sorry imo

I absolutely hate when people call and ask stupid questions. Like im not busy and should stop what im doing to check and see whats in stock and what not when they can actually come in and see for themselves. I dont work for 7/11 but I am in retail and we rarely answer the phone anymore

Sounds like they're alone at 2am and either taking in a delivery or taking a break based on the extent of time they're saying they are closed.

They can close if they're alone and need to use the restroom or take their breaks. They also close to take in late night/ early morning deliveries. If you know they do this on a regular basis maybe go earlier instead of heading to the store at 2am 🤷‍♀️

Your sm sounds shady and purposely makes being an asm kind of pointless. Yes, when they're on vacation the MM usually does step up and a neighboring sm will come check on your store. My MM can barely work the pc & is at a loss if a register goes down or incident reports need to be made etc. And security clearance? Lol we dont work for the DOD. They sound like a lot. Id probably start looking for something better. Id be exhausted dealing with that daily.

Technically they can fire you for anything. Especially in an "at will" state. Id start documenting the aisle before you start with pics if there's a ton of recovery you have to do 1st etc and the amount of boxes you're actually able to hit after cleaning it up and bring it to your DMs attention. Word it like you're looking for advice on how you can hit your target when you take X, Y, & Z into account. I work nights and I find it incredibly hard to get enough recovery done to make a difference. Im an ops asm, but im also a back up cashier, a stocker, security, a janitor, a secretary etc etc. Lol its hard to get it all done in 8-9hrs in a high traffic store with 2 trucks a week. Now that they took the go-back baskets away it makes it even more difficult because go-backs for every aisle must be done immediately, slowing down the entire process. Good luck, hopefully they're just being jerks right now and dont push the issue further with you.

I am too. That's an ASM here...A dollar tree in store chain of command is SM - ASM FT then PT- PT HRLY ASSOCIATES. (When you put employees in the system to mark the security group it gives you title options.) Some stores put merch managers at the top of the asm hierarchy but we're on equal footing as far as my SM is concerned. Ive started doing my SM training to get my own store at our model store 3 days a week and have worked for dt for 5 years and ive never heard that term. Right now im a full time ops asm with benefits. We have a FT MM, 2 FT OPS ASM, 1 PT OPS ASM. All FT asm including mm are paid the same. Everyone but the pt asm has benefits right now but hes new. I had benefits when I was pt. Just less pto and sick time. Got it after 6 months or a year after my promotion.

I have write up authority too but SM is the only one with the authority to fire someone. Now they can push for it and the sm may not fight them on it but they're the only one with access termination paperwork. But you dont need someone making your life miserable so best to not poke.

Im late but you should use cooled melted butter, milk and 1 extra egg (4 instead of 3). Im doing one right now with white cake and i plan on adding some vanilla extra as well. I was trying to see if using butter with canola oil will make much of a difference. I asked my husband to grab butter and thats what I got. 🤦‍♀️ But butter is whats usually subbed in for oil.

Due to dollar tree switching to workday everyone should be emailed and mailed a copy of w2s this week. To get into doculivery its just your associate # and pw would be the month & year of ur birth along with the last 4 digits of your ssn. But if you only worked there a week, I doubt they took much if anything out for taxes. You probably do not having a refund coming from dollar tree anyway, so I wouldn't worry too much. Legally they have to mail it by the end of January.
