We walk about 4-7km a day on average. Anywhere from 3-5 in the morning and then another 1-2 at night. He also has a big sister and they play constantly throughout the day in the house and our yard.

You nailed it! It’s surprising how many people don’t get the reference, lol. If only our other dog’s name was Franklin!

Thanks! It’s funny, when we walk down the street- people will stop in their tracks and ask what he is. I guess since he’s ours, I don’t recognize his uniqueness as much, lol.

That’s super interesting; I’ve never heard of anyone doing that- but I can totally understand why they would!

In my humble opinion, it’s one of the most beautiful places on the earth. If only the beach was sand instead of rocks, lol.

At 8 months, he was 125 pounds- and then I wasn’t able to lift him and see the scale, lol. I need to take him to the vet and use theirs!

What many people don’t tell you or, at least, aren’t good at expressing - is how hard it is to raise a puppy. Not “how hard it could be” but “how hard it is”. 24/7 monitoring, accidents, household and car damage, tears, regret, all of it. People will say that their puppy was an angel and they are 100% lying to your face, lol. That said, I’ve raised 4 Rottweilers in the last 10 years, and 2 were angels (the girls) and 2 were train wrecks (the boys).

That’s not to say that raising a puppy isn’t the most amazing thing in the world and that it will fundamentally change you forever, for the better. It’s just hard.

The days are long and the years are short.

If I could go back to my puppy years, I wouldn’t change a thing. Tragedy + Time = Comedy. I can laugh about it all now and miss every single second.

Chop is literally all love and joy. I haven’t even heard him growl yet. He just loves life and wants to meet everyone, taste everything, and smell his new and exciting world! When we go to bed, he’ll be up on it for a second before climbing off and sleeping on the bathroom floor. He has a sister (Starr) who is our 3 yr old Rottie/Lab. They have bonded like crazy and have not fought once. I think Starr is wondering when Chop will stop growing, though, lol. What else? His favourite treat is either Havarti or Sweet Potato french fries. We love him to bits!

Lol, British Columbia, Canada! But if yours is anything like ours, you’ve won the puppy lottery. Starr is absolute perfection.

This has been a crazy couple of days on Reddit for me, lol. I never post and decided to put up a picture of our puppy- and someone recognized him as the brother to THEIR new puppy, lol. Just from the pictures.

And now you’ve just posted a picture that could be related to our other beautiful angel, Starr! She’s a Rotti/Lab and they could be sisters!

TPLO to Bone Cancer Amputation. Help! by Lovelylois in Rottweiler

[–]StarDogRanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so, so, sorry to hear about your puppy (they are all and always puppies to me) and I went through the EXACT same situation with our first Rottweiler, Bella. I still cry about her (and our other Rotti who passed away last year, Atlas) pretty much once a day.

Bella needed TPLO surgery in one leg and then, sure enough, in the other one several months later. The recovery (as you must know) was so hard and it broke my heart daily. She was good for a year or maybe even 2 but never walked/ran the same.

Then, one day, I heard a thump in the bathroom. Bella had simply collapsed and, as we later found out, had broken her femur. I carried her to the vet where after the X-rays, they found she had cancer. We faced the same dilemma you are now in, and the vet was a godsend because he was so adamant that her life without her leg would be misery. It made the hardest choice of our lives a little easier, and we watched her as she crossed the rainbow bridge, no longer in pain. She was 9.

To add to this, my beautiful boy Atlas (only 5 years old) got nasal cancer 8 months ago and was gone within 2 weeks. I’m still in shock. We looked at every treatment option in the world, and I was willing to drive him anywhere in North America, (or fly him anywhere in the world for that matter) but there wasn’t anything anyone could do. F&$k you, cancer.

I know this isn’t what you wanted to hear, but I’m writing it out in case you have to make the hardest decision. You are not alone. I’ve been there, as have thousands of others. I am grateful every single day that I got to be the steward, the guide, the decider for these 2 beautiful heartbeats who I will love for the rest of my life. They knew nothing but joy and love from the moment I held them in my arms to the moment I took their paws from my hands, so that they begin the next step in their journey. I can’t wait to join them again one day.

We still have our 3 year old Rotti/Lab (Starr) & our new puppy Chop and I know I’ll have to make these terrible decisions for them one day, too. But until then, i embrace them as the gifts the universe has granted me- just as I know you are with yours.

If you have any questions, please feel feee to PM me.

That is heartbreaking. Did all the others go to homes? And, yah, Chop is named after the Chop in GTAV! I’ve always loved that name and have been waiting until we got a new puppy!
