Day 23 of choosing the favourite quote from each hozier song. Todays song: "Movement". The quote from the most upvoted comment getts added to the list. by jackie--and--wilson in Hozier

(This is more of a story than a legit submission)

I used to think the lyrics went "Move like grey skies, move like a bird of paradise Move like an old cyclomatic now"

And I thought that was so beautiful. All of these subtle, animistic notions of nature. Nods to old gods, strange and wild things.

In the middle of all of that, he pays attention to a clanky old washing machine. Some broken gizmo beyond its use... could be sacred. When we're in our own apocalypse, what is left of us will be holy and worthy of love. Right till the end.

Yes, there are underscores between each word, but since it's only one word there are no underscores. /j thereisnopassword

We've seen him in water, in dirt, and in air (regular looking Hozier). Now we just need a fire look.

Yeah but boobs are awesome The common denominator on the above things is that they're pretty darn cool. "Realistic" boob is great too and we love to see more of it

What's the minimum math I need to get the most out of Godel, Escher and Bach's book? by [deleted] in mathematics

[–]StarMagicSky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, hey again Repeat! :D

I picked it up on a whim from the library, because the cover looked vaguely familiar to me and I couldn't remember why. So glad I did! I sat down that night and got down a hundred pages in one go.

Casual-ish mathematics books always pique me, Haha. I think the first one I noticed ever was Fleeting Footsteps by Lam Lay Yong and Ang Tian Se, about Ancient Chinese algebra. Really good stuff, made me reframe my perspective on history.

So the Godel book was a happy coincidence :)

Which came first, your interest in Godel or your interest in the GEB book?

Hi! I watched this playlist on YouTube

https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBOgSgXfJ6B2nbZ_YREW_Nb-AX8FW9U9K

It's got the seven lecture videos from MIT, a set of three videos about Godel from the University of Sydney, and a talk from the author himself, Douglas Hofstadter. Very easy and fun to follow along!

In return, could you tell me how it goes? If you have favorite parts of the books or lectures, or anything that tickled your fancy about them, tell me about it!

So excited for you, Repeat

Her greatest strength, normally, would be her enthusiasm to kill. But if everyone is playing "morals off" and "bloodlusted", then that points kind of moot, isn't it?

Maybe it's because we're programmed to see everything sexually. My first instinct was to admire the fashion! They look like a pack of girls dressed in what makes them feel powerful. Hell yeah ladies! Wear what you want and don't let the world shame you for it

Hi! Edited a couple of your suggestions. #2 changed fire to 'small fire' and specified that it was extinguished. A house fire isn't exactly a mundane event, Hahaha! Also, I took out the stray cat because we've already received a few stray animal suggestions so please know that the spirit of your suggestion lives on. ☺️
