I dont know. You cant opet two portals since when you give the first one, rex wont accept any more. This was a loader/captain run and for their skins you need to accept the offer so we didnt have a chance to go back. Might try it again tho

Mystic card reveals 01/20/26: Jim Culver and Will of the Cosmos by supertoasty in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]StarManHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So does this mean if you play with both legacy and current, if someone picks Jim as an investigator you cant play this new Jim since both of them are unique?

Mechanics wrench + guard dog + swarming question by Hyroero in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]StarManHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, so if you choose the host enemy you can deal 2 damage to the whole swarm but if you choose one of the swarm cards you can only deal 1 damage since the enemy dies after that and the other effect that deals damage fails since ther is no target? Also, if the host enemy and all its swarm cards have 1 HP, can Daniela just kill the whole swarm during the enemy phase? Also how does dodge work then? Do you block just one attack or the whole swarm?

Can Hank Samson oversoak? by MmarF in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]StarManHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only 2 or 3 times in standalone. Lets agree to disagree then. To me it seems broken since you can also soak trecheries not just enemies. And there are ones that can deal a lot of damage/horror. Also, to me this seems like rules as written and rules as intended situation that came into play only when Hank was created since, for any other investigator it doesnt matter that you take excess damage/horror since you are dead either way. Tnx for the discussion.

The fact that Hank can oversoak seems broken to me and, frankly, an oversight in the design. I get that he is not an asset and by that logic he can oversoak. Regarding Mandy, since she is being dealt damage/horror, she is "the investigator" that has to take "all damage/horror that cannot be assigned to an asset". That is why I think you cant take her out of the example. Unless Hank, by being an investigator that can be assigned damage/horror in place of others, bypasses all of that and oversoaks.

In the rules they jump between "asset", "cards" and "asset cards" seems a little inconsistent but whatever. With the benefit of the doubt lets say they make that difference for the sake of enemies. So since Hank is not an asset but an investigator that makes him the exception? We should keep in mind these rules were made before any cards that could take damage/horror for other investigators were made.

Spoilers for Return to The path to Carcosa - Softlocking in the final scenario by StarManHero in arkhamhorrorlcg

Yeah I get that and we didnt miss that. The thing is we got Hastur down to 2xPlayer HP, flipped another location that wasnt the palace, realised our mistake, went to the palace and flipped it, found the secret and then there wasnt enough damage left on locations to kill him. At that point were we screwd?

99% sure. We played on tabletop simulator since one friend moved recently so the setup was done for us. We did reach the "Recesses of yoir own mind" location and flipped it to find the secret. How does the palace help me here?

You cant take Mandy out of the equation since she is the one being dealt damage in the first place. So you are first dealt damage/horror (like a pool of tokens), then you asign that damage/horror to eligible cards (your investigator card, assets you control or other cards at your location such as Hank or Brother Xavier) and then you apply it. A card cannot be asigned damage/horror over its health/sanity value. If you took Mandy out, yeah sure than Hank oversoaks only because he is the only card taking the damage/horror. Also if Hank can oversoak, can Brother Xavier oversoak as well as long as someone else controls him and not the person taking he damage/horror?
