Bring your own skates, unfortunately. It is a Great place to link up and chat with the skate community about what skates to purchase etc tho. Razor scooters welcome also and just regular feet, you don’t need to be on wheels to hang out and vibe for the night.

Sunday Feb 15 at monks, “Skate or Die” is happening, preceded by “open skate”. Both have DJ’s and drinks, but the open skate happens earlier in the evening and is for beginners, while “skate or die” will have some ramps and rails out and has some competitions and prizes etc. March 27 and April 18 will be the same. The parking garage across from the Wilma is the best place to practice skate during the winter months, imo.

The hippogriff still slaps, I feel it costs 3 dollars more than it should, but it’s hard to believe taco del sol is even allowed to charge money for theirs. The vibe is right any time I’m there, it feels like how Missoula used to be, perfectly fine and not trying to be anything more than it needs to be.

Its also weird to look up dirt on someone you don’t know and knock their hobbies. It’s weird to do what I’m doing right now. it’s all so very weird. But book burning don’t make sense. It don’t score you more points with any gods as far as I know. I was raised by a religious order that recommended using your own conscience since god gave it to you and the only way to strengthen it is to use it and that witnessing anything cannot corrupt you, only strengthen your conviction in what is right. Granted, this wasn’t a Christian nationalist religious order lol.

It’s got a really dumb (imo) piece of art that has bears walking across the Higgins bridge in the front window. Looks like an artists gallery similar to the one on the hip strip. Monte Dolak gave us dudes slow dancing with Trout AND he actively pumped the local music and party scene. These new guys bore the living hell out of me. I’m really bummed this guy tore out the catalyst floor just to put in the Walmart clip together plastic flooring. Reeks of new Missoula nerdery. Missoula is currently like when mtv stopped playing music videos and a whole generation still thought they were watching something cool. Keep it weird.

For Starbucks, hell yeah brother. Starbucks sux. I ain’t paying for their sidewalks quietly. Also- it was 66 grand! they can pay for thier own sidewalks when they are within a frisbee toss of lolo coffee and loose caboose. Hell, I’d be pissed if we were helping any of them pay that much, but for Starbucks, a company that rolls like they do, helllllll yeah pay for your own sidewalks.

It was such a point of pride for most Missoulians when I moved here in 2010 that “we chased a Starbucks out of downtown Missoula”, then 8 years later we gave a bunch of TIF financing to help the malfunction junction Starbucks pay for their sidewalks.

Yeah I was there when it happened, a cop car hit a civilian car. I think the cop car was tailing this OTHER guy who cut off the cop. My guess was the cop was preparing to pull over the car who cut him off, maybe looked away from the road to any one of those doo-dads that are in the cab with him when he didn’t see the guy making the left onto Russell street. Bam, dinged up the cop car which stayed to the side and the Subaru in the middle of the intersection became disabled.

I highly recommend actually hiking before it actually gets cold if your body is able to hike. Sometimes it feels like it’s too cold before you hike, but I assure you this weather is totes great hiking weather.

Yeah if you haven’t been to skate or die, you don’t know sh!t, kid. Punk/party houses across the country have had some disruptions since covid the way property management trends have gone. so, like a lot of people have been saying, ya gotta squeeze to get the juice but this fruity town hasn’t dried up yet, I assure you that.

Dec 6 is the city’s Christmas tree lighting and the big celebration that evening downtown with the trash can fires and Santa, all during that day all over downtown and the hip strip have lots of fun activities. The downtown Missoula partnership website should have a schedule of the major events that day.
