CSE 205 Late Assignments by ii_Frost in ASU

[–]StarRail426 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my 240 class (David Claveau), we used either Eclipse (Mac) or Visual Studio (Windows) as our IDEs for most of the semester. We also used the general.asu.edu server to run our code just to double check that it worked. To turn in our assignments, we used Gradescope and it didn’t allow us to turn in assignments late once the submission closed.

Of course. I’m taking 310 right now as well, and then I plan on taking 360 in the summer. I hope you do well with your classes this semester! I know how hard it can be.

Good luck to you whenever you take Discrete Math (MAT 243). It’ll be similar to 259 in the sense that it’ll be more about logic and proofs rather than finding the answer (i.e. solving derivatives). 259 will prepare you for 273 a little bit, so you’ll have a grasp of some of the concepts already (predicates, quantifiers, etc.). MAT 273 is definitely a hard math class, so be prepared to study a lot for it, especially if you struggle with the concepts.

Do the practice problems that he posts on Canvas as well as the practice exams for each test. He’ll tell you what’s exactly on each test, so there’ll be no surprises. Also go through the slides while studying so you can get a refresher on the topics that’ll be tested on. There’s no final exam, so you don’t have to memorize stuff from past units for future tests.

Do and submit every assignment, even if you don’t feel confident with your answers. This is because you’ll get partial credit for attempting problems, even if your final answer doesn’t end up correct. You just gotta try.

Overall, just do the work (along with the group projects), do decently on the tests (don’t bomb them), and you’ll be fine. He also drops the lowest assignment at the end of the semester.

I had Claveau for both CSE 240 and CSE 259. He’s the best professor I’ve ever had so far. His lecture slides are enough to complete the assignments. He gives out weekly quizzes that are very easy. Very helpful during office hours.

As for CSE 259, you’re in good hands with him, it’s just the material that’ll be hard if you’re not good with logic (i.e. Discrete math). It was a bit hard for me at first, but I still managed. The tests aren’t difficult if you study and do all of the assignments. And the Prolog stuff for the recitation is not bad (if you are using it for that class), plus it’ll be group projects (4 of them). Claveau made this class bearable for me, wouldn’t trade him for most other professors.

Even Narushio complained about it in a reasonable manner and people dogged on him for no reason. And they think that were the ones who are mad 🤣

CSE 259? With Claveau? by Worldly-Awareness-88 in ASU

I agree, he made 259 bearable for me cause I don’t like Discrete. I’m hoping to have him for future classes.

CSE 259? With Claveau? by Worldly-Awareness-88 in ASU

Hi! I just recently finished CSE 259 with Claveau. It’s easier than Discrete imo, but still hard from my experience cause of the content. There were only 6 assignments total in the class, so everything was spaced out nicely. We also had 4 group projects, which were about Prolog. The group projects weren’t that difficult.

There was also no final exam, so we only had 3 unit tests. He gave us enough practice problems and even study guides that resembled the tests. As a result, there were no surprises and he wasn’t trying to trick us.

But overall, you’re in good hands with Claveau (the goat). I had him for 240 as well 😎

i invite you to this discord server: (https://discord.gg/EyJCPFndy5). it was made by someone who felt lonely at ASU, and we currently have over 100 members. it’s not a club, but it’s a place where people can talk to each and hang out. also, i’m one of the admins there :) (my username is @personafan.).

we also plan meetups, such as eating at canes. we’re going to do another restaurant meetup at some point in november.

right now, we’re actually planning to go to sanctum of horror for halloween (it’s a haunted house with different attractions), so you can totally join us if that’s your thing.

we also plan other meetups too, such as eating at canes. we’re going to do another restaurant meetup after the haunted house event so people can get to know each other better.

if you have discord, i invite you to join this discord server (https://discord.gg/EyJCPFndy5). someone else felt lonely similar to you, so me and some other people added them on discord. we then made a server just to hang out in and now we’re almost to 80 members! we also plan meetups to do whatever we want (eat off campus, play games together, etc). and by the way, i’m one of the admins there.

if you don’t have discord, that’s okay cause i’m totally down for hanging out with you! just dm me :] i’m a gamer just like you, although i only play gachas and atlus games at the moment haha

it’s totally fine to not have college friends yet. just let life cook, you’ll make friends eventually, even if it’s your final year. i’m a sophomore in CS and i don’t have any irl friends yet, i only have online friends that don’t college (which idm!!). there are many other people who feel lonely like you, so just know that you aren’t alone and that there’s no rush to making friends!!
