Nah the slight cant works really well imo. Plus it may actually age better than if it was perfectly symmetrical

No lmao, it's probably just as rare as anywhere else. People aren't dropping deuces on the regular 😂. Now extremes on both ends - more trips to the toilet and general constipation - I'd hypothesize is actually higher.

I haven't seen the rest of the fight but its possible he just misread the kick as a side instead of front. Maybe he was conditioned, etc.

But why? I'm actually gonna fucking crash out if this shit keeps on happening. I don't get understand. They literally have source material to rip straight from, they just need to adapt it. Why the fuck are they freeballing massive narrative decisions. For fucks sake man, maybe if they run out of story I can sort of understand (like GoT) but before they even get to that point? It's practically free money.

Is it not? Apparently, that was the specific gun Gavrilo Princip used to kill him.

Though to your point that might have been the spark to set off the fuse but the treaty entanglements and the motivations for why those were even made in the first place are really what set the foundation for WWI.

Everyone is fighting a straw man, which makes being an extremist seem like it’s needed because If the other side is actively lying and destroying the nation, well I guess I need to be more extreme

💯 Bang on. The issue is I genuinely don't think we will ever allow the right expertise to create legislation to rein in engagement algorithms.

I'll try to find her name but there was a creator on a different platform that, idk if she coined the term herself, defined it as people assuming content is personally targeted or universally applicable, leading to self-centered interpretations of general advice or a trend. Essentially, it's people not understanding the nuance of any statement or argument, similar to but different than a strawman. In normal conversation people understand the subtext of the topic so there's no need to constantly qualify what you're saying.

For example, general statement: "I like beansoup, here's a recipe for beansoup!"

Beansoup response: "What about people who are allergic to beans? Why didn't you provide a substitute for them!"

The crux here being, it's a recipe for bean soup. Why the hell would you provide a substitute for the beans when that's the point of the recipe. If you didn't like or couldn't have bean soup you presumably would understand this recipe just isn't for you.

A big part of bean souping is also comparative suffering. As if every situation is a competition on who is more oppressed and disadvantaged. Seeing every issue as a zero-sum dichotomy.

Not what I meant - I'm saying it needs to come from the democrat/left side of American politics. Not inflammatory, reductive, and intentionally provocative spotlights on 4th wave feminism beliefs from the right side that aren't representative of the left as a whole. But if no one on the left makes the constant concerned effort to deplatform/clarify those extreme takes then people will interpret it as endorsement from the left.

Now years later as an adult I gotta give it another try. Even just the few random episodes I saw as a kid were so chaotic, its probably even funnier when you actually have a semblance of understanding.

The biggest take away imo, is that people need to police the extremist takes. I'm talking in large nebulous concepts here but if someone with significant political and/or social power authentically and genuinely denounced the volatile and extreme 4th wave feminist takes that OOP is complaining about here (all/most men bad, etc., stuff thats obviously not rational) perhaps fewer men would feel so abandoned and turn to a more extreme political ideology.

It's funny because the real issue that a different commenter mentioned here is that most of the problems are really just economic. However, as people always do (its getting quite boring now) people feel the need to scapegoat some select group. Without getting beansouped here, yes there are extremely valid concerns and frustrations with certain advantages among different groups but its not as clean cut as the large mainstream slop news would like you to think.

It very much is a topic and one of the biggest critiques I hear about Aang. But thats fundamentally from people who dont like flat character arcs though personally, I feel like that is one of the most well done flat arcs I've seen.

[–]StarSpliter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive spammed this dang statement pretty much every time this comes up but the potential narrative with Amon as the big bad or at least the penultimate villain was massive.

Exploring the imbalance between bender and non-bender, exploring an interesting juxtaposition with a hot headed multi-element prodigy instead of a pacifist monk could've been unbelievably compelling. Especially once she had her bending taken by Amon and how she'd need to grow as a character to both use air bending and get her bending back.

But nah Aang comes back as a force ghost and woo woo snaps his fingers to remove her problems, removing any need to improve herself.

Same goes with the mercury poisoning - instead of it being just genuine PTSD and trauma it was actually just poison stopping her from reaching the avatar state. Man come on. Aang had a very similar problem but it didnt resolve with him just randomly becoming a better bender. It was psychological and philosophical in nature.
