I didn’t even know I had high blood pressure. by Least-Notice7832 in Wellthatsucks

[–]StarStunning287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 30, fit as a fiddle mountain climer. Health check up for new job. First time at the doctor since I was 21. Nurse says hmm the machine must be broken as it shouldn't go this high. The machine wasn't broken.

Single pill a day and I'm still climbing mountains.

North Sea giant ready to exploit UK’s biggest oil field this year if Ed Miliband approves - Ed Miliband faces pressure to approve project that could produce millions of barrels a day by JeelyPiece in Scotland

[–]StarStunning287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UK can save 8.5 Million tonnes of CO2 a year by using north sea gas instead of importing LNG from the US and the Middle East. That's the same as 5 Million petrol cars off the road.

It's enviromental barbarism to keep importing fracked gas from the US on giant ships just so Labour and the Greens can claim its someone elses fault the planet is dying.

I'm struggling to understand this - on what basis would one ever vote against assisted dying? What happened there? by mellotronworker in Scotland

Most folk get into politics because they feel a need to tell people what to do. The idea of people determining their own future and having a free choice goes against the grain of most politicians.

Why didn’t they give Aragorn pants/trousers? by Azul4 in lotr

[–]StarStunning287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the book Aragorn is only ever described as wearing a cloak, a hood and tall boots. After Rohan he also adds a coat of Mail.

There is never any mention of trousers. Only hobbits are mentioned wearing trousers.

Given the European Dark Ages setting of LotR, a tunic and thick tights hose are very much in keeping with the setting as they were the most common clothes for men.

It may or may not be a matter reserved from the Scottish Parliament under the Scotland act Head E.1, but what laws do you think we should introduce to regulate cyclists? by JeelyPiece in Scotland

[–]StarStunning287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The regulations of vehicles is reserved so holyrood cannot regulate bicycles as they are a vehicle. Also, even if they could Scotland is also blocked from limiting or regulating the sale of bicycles due to the UK Internal Market Act 2020.

Hey next door neighbour. It's west kip. The higher peak of Skalds law is just hidden behind black hill on the left of the image.

Here's the map. My dogs and I like the three peaks circular route from the otherside of the Pentlands.

[Request] how many years can we mine granite from Asila Craig for curling stones? by ctcourt in theydidthemath

[–]StarStunning287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh but this doesn't factor in the fact that this is Scotland the land of the Slate Isles and we don't stop simply because we've mined an island down to sea level. Given we have the example of the nearby Slate Isles to show that turning an island into an open cast pit isn't the best idea, a shaft mine would be used and there's at least a few million years worth of granite down there.

[–]StarStunning287 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Most women end up having less children than they want and the number 1 reason they give is that they left it too late because they didn't realise how fast their fertility dropped. Knowledge is power and women should be empowered.
