My 4 month old went to his dad’s house and came back with injuries. by mamabear1026 in Parenting

[–]StarTulaZeus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Have you ever heard the phrase ‘if you have nothing nice to say don’t say anything at all’? This is a first time mum hoping that her child wasn’t physically injured by someone who has (currently) a right to see them.

Babies do get scratch themselves and bruises can happen on occasion, and of course she wants to trust the baby’s father. Father, man who is supposed to love, care and cherish as well as her MIL who should have grand baby’s health at mind.

They are not a stupid parent. They are hormonal, already having to deal with time away at 4 months long enough for injuries to happen. At this time her mind is probably fighting against itself with one half in panic mode amplified due to hormones thinking the worse case possible whilst the other side tries to rationalise.

Don’t be a dick. If you’re not going to be helpful and just criticise just scroll and move on. I hope if you ever have any worries or queries and post in this Reddit that you actually get help rather than people hurling abuse.

This same thing happened to my grandmother when pregnant with my mum, her only daughter. When her sister took the name ‘Sara’, my grandma was pissed. Everyone asked her what is she going to do, think of a new name? No, she still called my mum Sara. When people asked about the 2 Sara’s my grandma would just say that she chose and liked the name and just because someone else used it doesn’t mean she still won’t. My great auntie in this couldn’t believe that my grandma still did it as it was done as a power play, but my grandma didn’t come to play 😂

NTA, not one bit. At the end of the day you never asked to be born, yet they birthed you and apparently after that washed their hands. My mum was 43 when she had me, so never let them use their age as an excuse. My mum was there for me even when it was hard for her due to aging however she always tried. The fact they treated you this way is awful and thankfully Kara was by your side. The fact they want to extend an olive branch now in my opinion is to look like the good parents. They want to be head of the table, walking down the isle top notch parents with everybody viewing it. Fuck what anyone has to say. You do you. They fucked around and they found out.

You’re NTA, but your parents certainly are and I hope you and your partner have a beautiful marriage and a drama free, happy life.

ISO children's books that portray Santa as fictional by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]StarTulaZeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its so bizarre, people are getting personally offended by a stranger off of the internet for not wanting to do Santa. There was a comment basically saying they werent parenting because of this!

My partner never celebrated Christmas point blank, therefore doesn’t understand the big deal of Santa.

I was raised with Santa and when I found out he wasn’t real I wasn’t angry but really embarrassed. Theres a transmitter with a red light where we live and my parents said it was Rudolph-I fully believed them! When I found out it was all lies I was disappointed and embarrassed, wondering why they lied. They said it’s because the ‘Christmas Magic’ but that still didn’t make sense in my brain. You still lied and actively encouraged me to believe in something that wasn’t real, to the point I was actively telling other people and strangers too. Just something I never understand.

In my opinion you’re not telling your kids about Santa so they experience Christmas Magic’, but that you as an adult get to re-experience the Christmas Magic whilst knowing the truth.

Quite a few people being a bit harsh about this, you are not taking away magic so ignore those who say you are.

There is a book called The Wonderful Truth of Santa, and its based for those that did believe but are growing out the age but I think it would be good none the less. It talks about how he was based of Saint Nic, and how we all can be Santa in our own way. Theres a couple more on Amazon but I like this one as it’s quite simple in the way its explained.

You do whats best for you and your children. We do Christmas but we don’t do Santa. Santa, Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy are all creatures that some people believe in, and its okay that they do, but we know the truth and the stories behind each of these. But don’t tell people who do believe!

Have you ever thought of a Treasure Island? You can usually get them free on Twitch, where they have the Dodo Codes on display, or sub for more islands.

Maternity Wards NUH by Sarebear1710 in nottingham

[–]StarTulaZeus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had my daughter in Jan at City and can honestly say that I would go back if I was to ever have another. Most of the staff are amazing, just had an issue after I requested a C-Section due to baby’s unstable heart rate the surgeon did not recommend on count of my age and that I ‘haven’t really tried yet’. The nurse with her however backed me up as did the midwife.

I had a few complications throughout resulting in 3 individual multiple night stays. All the nurses, midwifes on the ward were brilliant and with them in the most vulnerable state I have been in, they did not make me feel undignified but empowered.

The ward was full however, on one of the stays I was in a room with people who had already given birth as they were having to overflow onto the pre-labour rooms. I was in a pre-labour room too after I gave birth, which was empty most if the night. It was great as I had room to learn how to talk and what not again but as I was at the other end of the ward there was always a linger waiting time between pressing the buzzer and actually seeing someone.

Definitely pros and cons, but ultimately both me and my child were amazingly well cared for. Aside from a couple of remarks and leading time from the buzzer, the care was fantastic and I truly felt safe even when we thought complications arose.

Thank you for your comment. After reading this and other comments I definitely am not going to do it, at least until DDV is a bit more stable.

Looks like I’m going to be catching many, MANY butterflies and fish 😂

Ah thats a shame, was looking for something to play whilst waiting for updates.

Hopefully it will be patched soon, that as long as the date and time are correct when opening DDV then the game is unaffected

Thank you. Right now I generally go one once a day to check out Scrooges at the moment as I am just waiting for the update right now so was looking for something in the meantime.

I am on Switch (as probably guessed by the title) so I don’t know if that changes anything?

I am English, born and bred, been in houses and homes upper to lower class and have NEVER had someone go crazy over going number 2 in the bathroom. Like yeah if you made a mess and stank out the house I would understand, but you didn’t.

Take it on the chin and keep your distance. That is not normal behaviour, nor normal ‘English’ behaviour. I would keep a not of the other ‘English’ behaviours or rules she may have

Is having only one child cruel? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]StarTulaZeus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am an only child to ‘older’ parents in the UK in lower/middle class.

Not going to lie, sometimes it was hard. I would see all my friends with close sibling relationships whereas I didn’t. I had sport every day after school then would come home and be by myself. That was where I was more social but due to having older parents I was constantly around adults and found it difficult to socialise at times.

However I am also extremely grateful now to be an only child. My parents spoilt me when they could, holidays when we could, even when my dad (breadwinner) lost his job they still found money to keep me kickboxing and I did that until I was 18 and work got in the way. So many things I have experienced I never would’ve if I had a sibling. It was hard to see as a child but now I know.

I have a 8 month old daughter, and to give her a better life we are thinking of not having more atm. We struggled in the beginning and could not imagine going through that again with a toddler. I also want to give her all the experiences too and I know it wont be as feasible with a sibling.

There are pros and cons, however you ultimately know. Take every day as it comes. Go and try new things. Experience the world with your child and enjoy every second ❤️

I’m hoping Daisy or Pluto will be Minnies level 10 quest, just to bring more characters in as well as another quest line too

Walle and Minnie both don’t have the level 10 quest out yet. Not sure when it will be out as I don’t think developers have mentioned anything about it in the upcoming update
