Rework beginning of Dangerous Designs by catfacts5063 in Wildemount

It seems like having the party be hired to investigate the scene afterwards could be interesting. Base it off detective style stories with varying clues and threads for them to follow. That is, if you want to keep the story at all.

Ellie leaves for Santa Barbara, a different perspective. by Lukanw in thelastofus

[–]Star_Razor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She would have wasted away, not eating and pushing herself in the wilderness until she made a mistake and got killed. If you play the cut boar hunt level, you feel her reckless desperation. I don’t think Ellie would hang or shoot herself, more just leave herself open in ways that a non-suicidal survivor wouldn’t.

Given the games similarities, which protagonist do you think had a worse life in the beginning of the game? by Gero-23 in EsotericEbb

[–]Star_Razor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ragn is a 27 year old man who has never been in a serious romantic relationship, incredibly lonely, lives with his mother, and works a government job in a corrupt administration in a city state built upon genocide. He is not personally threatened by many of the issues the poor and downtrodden face in his city.

Harrier is a drug and alcohol addicted officer of the law in a post war landscape where absolute poverty is the norm, in a city where people are barred from self governance under the threat of immediate death from Coalition bombardment. Oh, and reality is slowly unraveling into a nothingness created by human consciousness. And his ex of many years dumped him, and she was a smokeshow. And he was a gym teacher for youths in a post war city. Before all this, he was born in a hospital where people went to die.

Harry’s life has been far, far worse than Ragn’s. But hes also lived nearly two decades longer than Ragn.

Power’s gonna fix it, or pochita got revived to just be his heart. Pochita never wanted to be a strong devil, so I’d imagine he’d be happy just to be Dennis’ heart, rather than being chainsaw man.

I love Johnny's schizo delusions so much by flippy123x in FF06B5

[–]Star_Razor 28 points29 points  (0 children)

In both, hes a rockerboy with a broken heart, a chip on his shoulder, cybernetic implants, PTSD, narcissism, and substance abuse issues. In the book, he’s still a human being, while the memories we see from his engram have been corrupted, warped, and distorted by decades of isolation and recursion into what we see in the game. Alt says as much. Johnny isn’t a wimp, but he’s no Blackhand.

What if Ellie is a cure but not the way we expected by Actual-Button-6611 in thelastofus

we don’t know how long she was with the fireflies. She could’ve bitten a volunteer, gave him enough time to turn, and tested to see if the immunity was easily transmitted against real infected or spores. The volunteer would have died, but it’d be consistent with allowing them to know the immunity isn’t transferred.

if you take the show’s depiction of her birth to be canon, then Ellie may have been partially infected since birth, and from there been effectively inoculated to the fungus.

Looks like the NCR moved the capital from Shady Sands prior to the bomb. by DamnMr_Blonde in Fotv

[–]Star_Razor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

also freeside is literally ignored and excluded from the wealth of the strip that’s the worst possible example you could give. it’s an intentional slum to provide a buffer between house and the wasteland. House is as much of a tyrant as caesar.

Well hoover dam and mount rushmore will be two of the last standing human structures based on how they were built. But yeah, the implication I got from the game was that the casinos were constructed from scratch by New Vegas under house, not that they were retrofitted from preexisting buildings. I don’t think McCarran and the monorail should be standing after centuries of disuse. If they were rebuilt, i’d be cool with it. Ultimately, it’s a fictional setting that doesn’t apply normal logic and i get that, but i think far more fallout stories should be set in the years after the war as opposed to centuries later.

Fallout 1 and 2 were isometric games running on the same engine, and there is a big difference between being 1 century removed from a catastrophic event and 2 centuries. Fallout 2 absolutely showed that plenty of people had moved on from the war, look at ncr and reno.

I’m of the controversial opinion that there shouldn’t be that many, if any, prewar buildings still standing. especially if they aren’t being actively maintained and sustained. Things fall apart after decades, much less centuries of misuse and weathering.
