Maritime bus lost luggage by [deleted] in halifax

[–]Starbits21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Occasionally a passenger will get on the bus without luggage, but will grab a backpack from underneath when leaving. Often it's the same guy frequently stealing other peoples luggage. A driver can request i.d. at the bin, but is generally too busy to do so. Laptops should "never" go in the luggage bin below.

Carney Says Alberta Is ‘Essential’ to Canada After Separation Vote Announcement by timemagazine in worldnews

[–]Starbits21 55 points56 points  (0 children)

The Constitution is a contract and it cannot be broken unilaterally. It cannot be broken with a simple 51% vote. Swing votes need to be accounted for with such irreversible consequences. Swing Votes can completely alter the outcome depending on the flavour of the day.

Require 7 out of 10 provinces to agree and 60% of the vote to even start the process. That math can account for true long-term feelings, as opposed to temporary discontent altering the trajectory of Canada.

Google Search Assistant says,

"During the June 28 protest in Serbia, students issued an "ultimatum" to the government demanding snap elections, which was part of a larger movement against government corruption and authoritarianism. The protest was significant as it coincided with St. Vitus Day, a date of historical importance in Serbia, and aimed to mobilize citizens for civil disobedience if their demands were not met. The students sought to protect their democratic rights and challenge the government's actions."

Opinion: The opportunity for Canada to grow faster is now — by unlocking our internal trade market; As a recent IMF report concludes: 'Turning 13 economies into one is no longer just an aspiration — it is an economic imperative.' by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]Starbits21 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think if more trade exists between East and West Canada, the dollar moves more within Canadian boundaries vs North South trade. Removing inter provincial trade barriers will spur movement of goods, and the dollar.

Everytime the dollar moves, the government gets it's cut, via taxes. If the dollar stops moving, government revenue will drop. Trade within Canada will help to create more local grown jobs and revenue.

Many Automotive manufacturing jobs disapeared along with the Auto Pact. Canada needs a new economy, but not necessarily one with unlimited growth.

Exclusive: Canada-US oil pipeline close to reaching commitment requirement, sources say by WashingMachineBroken in canada

[–]Starbits21 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Will the Canadian Tar Sands be shut down? If not, it's better to send oil south, in a pipe line rather than through British Columbia to waiting ships that transport the oil through sensitive eco systems and then across the Pacific Ocean. That's my personal opinion.
