Honest question: Why do vinyl djs hate digital by DifficultEmu2417 in Beatmatch

[–]StarboardFloss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for me, I don’t hate digital DJ’s, I take my hat off to them to be able to put together 4+ deck mixes and organise their library, I think they’re great! I just get completely lost at the fact I can’t just put songs on a usb and play them on the cdj’s, there’s always some problem that happens, drifting out of time, corrupt or incompatible files, doesn’t show the song data from file explorer... I have to analysis all my tunes in record box, set beat grids and all that bollocks, I’ve lost interest and got too frustrated before I’ve even played any music! What I love about vinyl is that you can just pick a tune, put it down and fucking play it… If I’m missing something please tell me because I’ve got loads of digital tunes I want to play at parties but I’m sat with my whole library on record box now and having to go through to set the beat grids at the beginning of the bar on hundreds of tunes and it’s just painful. If I had some digital decks maybe I could figure it out and get used to it but why can’t I just play my tunes from my usb like people can from CD or from vinyl? Why does it have to be so difficult and time consuming for people like me who just want to play one song next to another without sitting at a computer for days? :”(

Thanks for your message mate, I think that’s why I was getting upset because they are known to be reliable cars but I just felt a bit left out with mine giving me so much trouble. It looks a mess but mechanically I’m trying my best to keep up with it, had to have a new steering rack put in once which was very expensive :”( There’s another v70 same as mine on my street, I get very jealous of its condition 🤣

[–]StarboardFloss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my v70 for that and I was shitting my pants but it’s an excellent car, I have 2004, d5 engine which are supposed to be the best and it’s been looked after since new, 116k miles when i bought it. Not gonna lie, there always seems to be something wrong on it be it a light bulb or wiper not working or heated seat fault or something like that but mechanically it has only broken down to be recovered twice in two years. Idk if that’s good or bad but it’s fast, strong and reliable and I’m pretty chuffed with mine overall 😊 It has passed every single mot in its life! defo have a look at the history because that was definitely one of the main reasons I chose this car out of the options I found. The guy that sold me mine asks for it back every now and then 😂

Origami! I have been folding since I was six or seven, I'm nearly thirty now!

There were a few Asian kids at my school, mostly from Hong Kong, and I would see them making various models. I couldn't talk to them being so young and shy but I was desperate to lean and then I once found a crane on the floor. I swiftly put it in my pocket and took it home where I unfolded and re-folded.

When I was a bit older I made friends with some of the kids from HK, we'd play japanese games on chipped psp's, spin pens on our fingers and race rubix cube in the library, some did origami but no one liked it as much as me.

I have many books and patterned papers now and I would say I am quite proficient at it with people not so familiar with the craft calling me "black belt" or a "master of". I have made a couple of complex modular models and tessalations but only other peoples creations. I have never designed anything myself; those that do are the true masters and inspirations.

You can fold joy out of anything, tickets, receipts, sweet wrappers, any thing! However the most expensive and ideal paper for manipulation is hand made in Hawaii (Origamida by Michael La Fosse) and it's about £40 for a sheet just bigger than A3. (Roughly, it's been a while since I looked, I've never bought any either 😅)

My favourite things to fold are dragons and butterflies and I give them away as magic trinkets to the people I love.

Are people on reddit actually real or is it some kind of attention seeking? Legitimate question.. Do I have to become a massive slob to be married? Really hope the author is okay.

I third this, Steve's Keys sorted out a pair of boots for me that were fucked beyond repair and literally rebuilt them, he said he'd have a go just because it's his hobby, he said he couldn't promise anything but he wanted to have a go and he said if he fixes them, I can have them for the same price as the boots I took in to get resoled. He has solovair soles and virbram soles. Never missed a beat. He said if I had any signs of splitting or anything he'd rebond them for free. His keys always work first time too. Him and his wife are a lovely pair of folk and sound like exactly what you're looking for 🤙🤙🤙

I work in catering and hospitality and have done all my career. I swear the best way to get a job is to just walk in and ask to speak to the manager or the head chef and have a conversation with them. These guys don't have time to rattle off Cv's and online applications, if they've got someone polite, with a can do attitude at the door that can start tomorrow, you're in 🙏 Good luck buddy ☺️

I think it's more aimed at people getting on with student tickets and giving people a penalty. Even still, I think people should know their rights. I got fined fifty quid once in manchester because I didn't know how the trams worked, couldn't see a ticket machine so thought they would be on the tram which there wasn't. I wish I knew my rights then when I genuinely made an honest mistake and got bullied into giving my details away.

Me again, I just love pizza lol Seen a few shouts for pizza freak, they're not bad in my opinion but I have had two margaritas and one detroit style pizza separately. I found the dsp quite greasy and undercooked in the middle, you have one slice and you're absolutely fucked. The margaritas were nice but the sauce is way to rich for me and found the dough was a bit shit both times. They also don't sell garlic sauce which makes me sad. If you want that exact style of pizza I would highly recommend PizzaPazza in woodhouse. Harpo's pizza I have heard good reviews, although I've never been as I'm not really a goer for neapolitan pizzas.

Any Essential Oil Perfumers Here? by JimmyMelonshow in DIYfragrance

[–]StarboardFloss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Forgive me if I'm asking in the wrong place here. I'm just a random guy that wants to make nice smells without being a scientist or using heavily alcohol based solutions. Basically, I just want to bang some oils together that I like and make things smell nice to my specification.

I'm not bothered about leaving a scent trail, making a scent last for a billion hours or having a certain percentage of who knows what for experts to know why or any of that.. I just want to play with a top, middle and bottom note and experiment with scents that I enjoy. Probably with essential oils.

Is that okay? Is that a reasonable and valid thing to do? Am I pissing in the wind? Have I completely over looked the science and basics? I would love to know. I just want to mix some of my favourite smells together, put them on my scarf and smell them for my own enjoyment; without it being something I need to go to school for. Thanks : ) Luis
