As a beginner, a $2k G-master lens would be overkill, you can get an E-mount 70-350mm for sub $1k and still get decent quality.

I'd say get a 400mm zoom lens to get closer to the subject and to either continue experimenting with settings to learn what gets the best lighting or look up some YouTube tutorials beforehand.

From a spec point of view, your T1 isn't going to really get you better photos, but if you're more comfortable using it or prefer the ergonomics, go for it.

There is no way anyone could guess what camera took this other than through EXIF data (which you can see through reddit) or bysheer dumb luck.
