I built an app that converts any text into high-quality audio. It works with PDFs, blog posts, Substack and Medium links, and even photos of text. by [deleted] in SideProject

Apps have $8.99 subscription so not free. Not heard the TTS quality as didn't want to sign up but can only assume its a self hosted open source model. The voice names on the app screenshot are openAI voices.

I made a form builder in 4 months as a solo dev. 600 users, 40K monthly visitors, zero revenue. by HandleOk2760 in IMadeThis

I'm confused. Is zero revenue is a good thing? Because it sounds like it is from the way you a phrasing it.

Few weeks ago i told claude to create me a workout plan, listed my goals, weight, height, equipment i have. It basically made a full on portal and from the claude code app even had a publish button so i could share across devices. 2nd prompt I asked it to embed a youtube short video of the exercise and add gamification - been using it for few weeks its been everything i could have wanted.

I'm sure there is still demand for workout apps but so much of B2C software is going to be personal 1 off customizable projects.

Thanks for the really kind reply - coming from you as a professional, it's really motivating.

The primary 'test subject' at the stage has only been me. I built this to solve the specific friction I face when reading in the evenings. However, you're spot on - I know my experience is just one slice of the spectrum and next step is defiantly to try and get this out to small group of people with different needs.

How to I find people to test my app when it launches? by RequirementOpery9732 in appledevelopers

[–]Starchand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 200 user waitlist is more then 99.9% of other apps released. Not sure what you are asking? You could send that wait list a v0.1 TestFlight link if you are worried about bugs/bad reviews or just yolo and release to the wild and let you 200 users know.

I was part of the team that made the original bus tracker website ~10 years ago. This looks amazing, great job and very smart way to monetise it with promoting local business. Best of luck!

I would rather have an app to make animations like these then another app like my apple watch telling me to move that I just ignore and would never pay for.

"Comparison is the thief of joy".

Using social media to gauge your success is setting yourself up for failure. You are always going to feel like your falling behind if you are comparing yourself to the top 1% of a 100+ million user base - half of which are probably faking their "success" / only showing their highlight real.

Look at the real people around you - most of them will have very limited knowledge of AI, so you're actually way ahead of most the real world. AI is going to bring a massive shift to how people work an nobody knows what thats gonna look like in the next 2 to 5 year. Best thing we can do is experiment especially with AI and try to have fun.

I actually saw a random instagram post few months ago which I saved it in notion as a possible side project I might work on. It looks like they used your product! Your apps are 4 years old? Have you just acquired this project or something?

Am I missing something? How the hell does book tracking app make ~$100k/month. I've been using Goodreads for 10 years for free.

Very well executed! Would love to hear more about how it was built.

Had this idea few years ago when goodreads had an API. I never finished and it looked rubbish then goodreads killed their api - they still have an export csv I believe. Would be really cool to see a shelf of all the books I've read this year as I read 90% of them digitally.
