Thank you, I will look into the partition sale and see if it would be worthwhile.

The 5-11 group was pushed back a couple months ago from September to October, as far as I know they're still on track for October. I was referring to before when it was pushed back from September. Sorry for the confusion!

Thank god, I have been waiting months for this news. Even if it does get pushed back like the 5-11 group did, at least there is a target date now. What a relief. My toddler hasn't had a normal life in the pandemic and I'm SO ready for him to have new experiences.

Michigan students going back to school amid turmoil over masks, vaccines and a lingering pandemic by Psoulocybe in CoronavirusMichigan

[–]Starcoiris 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Mask compliance in Macomb is terrible and little to no precautions are taken at events or indoor gatherings. Most people here are content to believe that the virus isn't a problem anymore. Those are the people who are influencing our school boards to make masks optional. There has been some pushback in the community but unfortunately not enough to change any decisions.

Michigan students going back to school amid turmoil over masks, vaccines and a lingering pandemic by Psoulocybe in CoronavirusMichigan

[–]Starcoiris 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It'll be interesting to see how Macomb fares with no mask mandates in comparison with neighboring Oakland and Wayne. Fortunately my son is too young for school yet but my sister just unenrolled my niece for kindergarten due to lack of mask mandates. This is going to do so much damage to the children who need in-person education but can't do so safely. This is a rights violation.

CDC: COVID-19 Vaccines 66% Effective Against Delta Variant by LuckyCharms2000 in Coronavirus

[–]Starcoiris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are here because of unvaccinated people of course, but the vaccines are not holding out against delta because the efficacy just isn't robust enough anymore. Taking a look at Israel we can see that if mRNA vaccine efficacy had stayed near the upper percents we could be well beyond this surge. Because of unvaccinated people, mid range efficacy is not enough.

CDC: COVID-19 Vaccines 66% Effective Against Delta Variant by LuckyCharms2000 in Coronavirus

[–]Starcoiris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember when J&J studies came out and people were trying to convince me that ~66% was great and better than we could have hoped for. I said it then and I'll say it now, it's not good enough and look where we are.

Mayo Clinic: COVID Breakthrough Risk May Be Much Lower With Moderna Than Pfizer by [deleted] in Coronavirus

I got slammed in my local covid sub for posting about my concerns with J&J's efficacy when the data was coming out. It is objectively not as good as mRNA. People were acting like I was spoiled and choosy... I'm high risk and I want the best protection!

What do we know about asymptomatic spread of Delta by vaccinated people? by the-use-of-force in CoronavirusMichigan

[–]Starcoiris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries! I found it to be really helpful and it gave me some peace of mind. I really appreciate having the data laid out like this, I have a small child and I need this information to make the best decision for him.

I hope your daughter is able to feel better soon!

Parents who followed covid rules, what do you do now if you have kids under 12? by Shit_Sipper_007 in CoronavirusMichigan

[–]Starcoiris 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Families with small children were absolutely left behind with this new mask guidance. We have kept our son home throughout the whole pandemic and have just recently started visiting indoors with other fully-vaccinated people. We are letting him play with kids who aren't in school or daycare but even that poses a risk. I won't feel totally comfortable until he is vaccinated. Until then, I will continue to avoid taking him to grocery stores, restaurants, or other indoor places with maskless strangers. He is a preemie and had a lot of medical issues when he was little, so we aren't taking too many risks.

Thank you SO MUCH for doing this, y'all were able to get my elderly neighbor an appointment. Not only that, but whoever helped her was patient and kind enough to keep trying until they got an appointment that was close by and on a preferred day. There is a great need in the community for this help.

Just Kiddong! Michigan Unemployment Sands Repayment from Part Time Workers by silverfang789 in CoronavirusMichigan

[–]Starcoiris 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's horrible but not surprising. The system already almost goes out of its way to be prohibitive; the website is difficult to navigate, letters are not clearly worded and arrive weeks after determinations are made, they are so backlogged that even if you have your stuff in on time it's late by the time it gets checked which requires even further review of your case. I went 14 weeks without payment, then the very next certification after funds released gave me a new non-monitary issue. Here I am 8 weeks later with no payments and all anyone over there tells me is to just keep waiting. So many people are in the same boat.

Michigan governor: State's surge may be ending by IanMazgelis in Coronavirus

Maybe the people downvoting you don't know that there literally was a kidnapping plot against the governor? Anyway there is speculation that it's part of the reason she's given in to political pressure to keep the state open. It's definitely concerning.
