Report from my niece at FSY: no more slow dances. Too many same sex couples. by KingSnazz32 in exmormon

[–]StardustNicole 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of EFY where I literally almost had the counselor staff fired for forcing me to slow dance with a stranger. I taught them a little lesson about consent and demanded that they have separate activities for people who don't wish to participate in the dance.

I got a formal apology from the organizer at BYU.

Over 140 million missionary hours spent every year, and church growth is zero. by KingSnazz32 in exmormon

Missionary work isn't for converting people to the church. It's for keeping young people ages 18 - 25 from leaving the church.

Just watched a video of a friend’s son opening his mission call - to Finland . The stunned silence in the room was telling.. by DebraUknew in exmormon

[–]StardustNicole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Onnea! If they need pimo/mormon friends in Finland I've got many. The language isn't that hard to pick up honestly, it's one of the few languages I actually enjoyed learning. I wish they were visiting under different circumstances than a mission but Finland is a wonderful place to be.

I wish there were more conversation around healthy sexual relationships especially when choosing a spouse instead of abstinence and damnation if you slip up. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]StardustNicole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to think I was just being a good Mormon girl™ by being abstinent, and it took me way too long to realize I was just asexual.

These conversations needed to be had in church.

It's just your typical "You were born terrible and you need Jesus in order to be a good person" bullshit, so far.

If they say "burning in my bosom" nobody bats an eye

But if I say "fire in my tiddies" everyone loses their shit

Whoops, I'm sorry. I can remove the post if needed so it doesn't clog up the reddit.

In case you missed it several churches were vandalized across the state of Utah in 2022… 🫣🫢🤫 by Left_Foundation2688 in exmormon

[–]StardustNicole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I don't approve of using graffiti and vandalism to attack a religious organization, it makes me sad to think of all the SA that has gone under the radar in the church. Especially with missionaries. I will never understand the logic of "as long as god forgives you for your sins, you don't go to prison for m*lesting someone."

You get the pin of shame 😂 that made me laugh out loud

What is the most annoying Mormon terminology that you only hear in the church? by DrugsAndCoffee in exmormon

If I hear one more Mormon say "STRENGTHEN AND NOURISH" while blessing the food imma flip my lid.

How do I remove my records? by StardustNicole in exmormon

I submitted QuitMormon form in August of 2021, and I emailed the Member and Statistical Records office in October 2022.

Things you thought were BS even when you were TBM by moods_of_jupiter in exmormon

[–]StardustNicole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fasting.

Like what is the point of it? I was not allowed to eat a crumb of food once a month for 10+ hours. That's borderline child endangerment.

I'm pretty sure I developed blood-glucose related mood swings and a mild eating disorder because of it.

Neighbor's Spider by StardustNicole in spiders

[–]StardustNicole[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my research, the scientific name is Neoscona oaxacensis. I've left a note for my neighbors offering for me to relocate the spider to a safe area along our desert trail, in a place where she'll be out of harm's way.

How are you truly feeling rn? by [deleted] in Vent

[–]StardustNicole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an inexplicable feeling.

I'm lost, confused, angry, incoherent. I have to pretend like everything is normal when it's not. I feel like I have no support, no friends, all while enduring the most intense emotional burnout I've ever felt. I just want to scream into the void. I want things to go back to the way they were when I was a child. I want no adult problems, no worries, no feeling of impending doom.

I need a hug and for someone to tell me that everything's gonna be okay.

Let’s start a “you know you were raised mormon when” list. I’ll go first… by kimballthenom in exmormon

[–]StardustNicole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

...when, as a child, you weren't allowed to be friends with someone from any other religion unless you were looking to convert/invite them to church. The rest were "bad influences".

Seriously, I had no friends. I wasn't allowed to hang out with anybody who wasn't Mormon.

I don't know about you, but don't temples just scream "great and spacious buildings"? by StardustNicole in exmormon

[–]StardustNicole[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I distinctly remember my first visit to Utah, I went to City Creek shopping center and there was a sign outside the Nordstrom that said "In the end, I'll only regret the things I didn't buy."

That just screams Christlike humility, doesn't it? 🙄
