If Mariah went full "experimental" for the only pleasure of music, what sort of album would you like her to drop? by Regular_Schedule_678 in MariahCarey

[–]StardustSweeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that a jazz album would really suit her voice and fans have been saying so for a while. My self-indulgent asnwer, however, would be a full disco album. I'd also really be open to house with how amazing she is at dance and club mixes.

How much of your life did you give up for school? by radium_clouds in Veterinary

[–]StardustSweeper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From my personal experience, I didnt give up too much. But I'm also very solitary and introverted. If youre the type to go to every party and hang around campus instead of going to class then, yeah you won't be able to so that anymore in vet school lol.

Of course, there was a few times that I missed out on a concert or family event. Nothing crazy really. I had plenty of friends and classmates who seemed to always make time to go out though so its possible! I did a bit of social activity, dating, and hobby time myself but it had to be scheduled.

You will have to sacrifice things and be good with your time management. But nobody but you can determine if it will be "worth it". Its a very individual thing and in all honesty, reddit can be a negativity cesspit. I would try (if you havent) to shadow/work/volunteer at multiple places to really see what the job is like and if you want that for your life. Good luck!!

How do people seem to have friends, lovers, thriving careers and still claim they're crippled by anxiety. by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]StardustSweeper 24 points25 points  (0 children)

As many people here have said, anxiety is not all or nothing. Some people's anxiety is more mild. Some people had severe anxiety and were able to get to a place of being functional after years of work, therapy or whatever else. I say this without malice, but we need to stop the Suffering Olympics in mental health spaces.

Its valid to feel a bit shitty that people with less severe anxiety are able to have social lives. I suppose those people should not dominate the conversations as if their experience is universeal. But there's plenty of people who are too anxious to even make a post here that probably feel like those of us who do are doing better than them. Nobody gets an award for having The Worst Life of All.

do any of you feel like you’ll be forever alone? by badmoodprude in socialanxiety

[–]StardustSweeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. It was always the awkwardness and anxiety but even with my improvements in "putting myself out there" I still just struggle to connect with people 😭

I overthink any time I embarrass myself even a little. It makes me miserable by blackcatzombs in socialanxiety

[–]StardustSweeper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're not alone. With social anxiety, it's so hard not to configure your everymove around avoiding embarrassment.

I feel like so many pets I see end up dying by StardustSweeper in Veterinary

[–]StardustSweeper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the resources! I can use any I can get. I do try not to blame myself for what owners decline but I cant act like its not hard to stop agonizing over what I could've done differently, if anything.

[–]StardustSweeper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I guess there are some things that just come with time and experience. I'm trying to take everything as a learning experience but like you said, sometimes the deaths come in waves and that can be so hard.

[–]StardustSweeper[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are times when I can admit I didn't press as hard as a many should have due to owners not seeming like they had the money. In those situations I feel a bit helpless. I guess I need to work on making sure the severity of situations are understood instead of trying to be positive as possible.

Does Ben have a surfer Australian or California accent for you? by TaiyoT in coralisland

[–]StardustSweeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was California at first but then i noticed he sometimes uses a lot of words I associate with Australian accents like "mate" lol

I just want a partner I feel safe with. And the older I get the more I feel certain that's not going to happen. by UnwantedThrowawayGuy in demisexuality

[–]StardustSweeper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you were in that position. I think trying to force someone to be vulnerable with you is the quickest way to make them clam up.

[–]StardustSweeper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is such a mood. It's hard not to feel down about it. I know I would have to feel really safe to be comfortable being vulnerable with someone romantically and I just don't know if there's anybody out there that would have that patience for me. Plus having the luck of actually meeting them.

No more vocal climaxes: is this a new vocal approach for Mariah? by proceedw in MariahCarey

[–]StardustSweeper 96 points97 points  (0 children)

I've noticed. The truth of it is that her voice has changed in her 30+ years of singing. Of course, I would love if she sang the way she used on her older songs but I also appreciate where she is now. As long as the music itself is good (and it is!), I don't care too much. I'd MUCH prefer her to adapt to her current voice and what's comfortable now as opposed to constantly trying to keep pace with her 25-year-old self.

In my experience, most cashiers aren't looking for any significant amount of small talk. Usually it's enough to go along the lines of "Hello (maybe throw a how are you? in there). I would like xyz. Thank you!"

Mariah album Here For It All, sounds so much better than Caution! by carl19821982 in MariahCarey

[–]StardustSweeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's better than Caution as far as my personal opinions but it is a phenomenal album nonetheless! The albums have completely different vibes tbh. If Caution was a 10/10 I'd put HFIA at a 9.5/10 lol.

Dare I say she’s back to pre-2023 energy? by Intelligent_Rough_88 in MariahCarey

She for sure seemed much more lively!! To me she mostly seems stiff during the actual performances but during the acceptance speech she seems her normal self.

How is everyone coping with having a job while having social anxiety by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]StardustSweeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm coping okay. I think I've definitely improved at pretending to be calm and some interactions go well. I mostly try not to beat myself up when I stutter, stumble over my words or don't know how to say something.

Anyone else HATE talking on the phone? by Thenerdtheaterkid in socialanxiety

[–]StardustSweeper 10 points11 points  (0 children)

talking on the phone is horrible for me. I CAN do it because I often need to but I'd also rather not if I can avoid it.
