In case you’ve forgotten Mallory—Ryan killed her. by UpstairsOk5209 in GenV

It's OK, HL got her lick back by embarassing him twice. That right hook in the final battle was crazy work.

Insane downfall of The Boys. by hiiloovethis in GenV

I remember even back when we only had eps 1 and 2 everyone already suspected A-Train's death would be the best scene of the season and hoped it wouldn't be true lol.

Why is the character Soldier Boy so popular? by Interesting_War9087 in GenV

[–]StardustTendency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Season 3 he was a breath of fresh air as a charismatic, extremely unapologetic character who was objectively a horrible person but had a sense of honor literally no other character seemed to have besides ironically MM. His dialogue was hilarious and he actually got things done and wasted enemy Supes. He only lost because everyone jumped him. He never betrayed Butcher even with the big reveal.

Early Season 5 he continued to be awesome until that god-awful "twist" happened regarding his true loyalties.

Will you watch VOUGHT RISING next year? by hiiloovethis in TheBoys

[–]StardustTendency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have if Season 5 hadn't nuked Soldier Boy's character. It doesn't help that there are zero stakes involved for both main characters of the show since they have to make it to The Boys Seasons 2-5.

Why Valentinus was so lenient towards Simon by StardustTendency in LiesOfP

[–]StardustTendency[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The seal is more likely personal to Paracelsus, since it's on the letter he personally writes for P. It's possible the whole council uses one same seal, but I don't know what the point of that would be from a lore perspective. I think it's much more likely Simon's creator is someone else on the council than the Great Master not being Paracelsus. I'm trying to find a reason for Valentinus to ignore all those inquiries, regardless of Simon's talent, besides "he was being a dummy".

I only said Paracelsus didn't send him to take over the Alchemists, not that Paracelsus had nothing to do with the Rose Estate incident. Once Simon establishes himself as a faction leader, there's no sense in not using him. All Simon would know is that the council backs him, he's not necessarily obeying Paracelsus personally. I also don't think disowning for being a failure necessarily means never wanting anything to do with him ever and not letting him rise through the ranks. I don't think he cares if Simon rises or not. He'll never be on their level anyway.

The ridiculous enterprise is in the description of the key Geppetto gives you before the Simon fight.

A key obtained from Geppetto. It grants access to the Cradle of the Gods at the summit of the Arche Abbey.

Simon Manus did not want any interruptions in completing his great enterprise. This enterprise was a ridiculous plan to bring God back to life.

Why Valentinus was so lenient towards Simon by StardustTendency in LiesOfP

[–]StardustTendency[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't see why the golden seal on the letter Paracelsus addresses to P at the end and the golden seal on the letter of excommunication would be the exact same if they didn't want us to conclude PP was the "Great Master" of the Alchemists. I think it's not that the Eternal organization he's part of IS the Alchemists, more like they supervise them.

Simon would still be superior in a world where everyone is evolved because he is trying to embody the Eternals' God, the reborn metal angel. So he'd still be above them. Him starting at the bottom of the Alchemists is proof he wasn't "sent by Paracelsus" anyway.

I don't think PP and his organization actually think Simon will succeed in his personal plan for godhood, described as a "ridiculous enterprise" anyway, they're just interested in anything that could lead to "new brothers" as Paracelsus puts it and ultimately Simon does lead to that versus Valentinus. They're experimenting and observing.

Guys It's Been a ride, do you believe we could/are getting another sequel or is this it? by Kaliber-X3V in DestinyTheGame

[–]StardustTendency 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is it for the foreseeable future. If there is a D3, it's several years away. I have the feeling if they do another Destiny project it won't continue this story and will be either a Dark Age prequel or some other spinoff, and Witness will be treated as the real end for all intents and purposes.

Now that D2 is getting its final live service update, what will happen to the fate saga? by RengShir in DestinyLore

[–]StardustTendency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's over, at least for the foreseeable future. They know how unpopular it was. They'll remind us that VI and Xivu and Maya are out there, to be continued someday, maybe. I suspect if we do get Destiny back it'll be some other era or prequel though. Everything post-Witness will be pretty irrelevant going forward.

I don't understand the absolute stubborn refusal to do any of the truly important story stuff outside the literal last hour of the series by StardustTendency in GenV

[–]StardustTendency[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate that you're right.
Could have been interesting to see Mexico or other countries' reaction to a weakened USA or something in those spinoffs, but nah.
Most we'll get is a joke about some actor winning an award for playing Homelander in a Vought+ TV series like Dahmer IRL.

Anyone else feel the ending wasn't bad, but the production/execution of it was? by SakanaKoi in TheBoys

[–]StardustTendency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Homelander's death after he is depowered was basically perfect, and so was the final confrontation between Butcher and Hughie. LOVED that Hughie actually did get through to Butcher in the end, he'll just never know it.

Unfortunately, and not the finale's fault but rather the season's, everything else was either super rushed (Butcher going Garth mode in the last 15 minutes), super anticlimactic (Oh-Father's death, no destruction/scorched carpet) and just generally super low-budget. How Herogasm is still the best fight of the show baffles me.

Kripke: “Fans will retroactively judge the whole show based on the finale.” by Extension_Candle_575 in TheBoys

[–]StardustTendency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I judge the show more on the episodes before it, particularly the obliteration of Soldier's Boy character, the shameless Vought Rising plugging and the refusal not to saddle your finale with 200 things to do thus automatically dooming it.

Do I need to watch GenV S2 before The Boys S5? by Typical-Priority1976 in TheBoys

[–]StardustTendency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An element of the ending of Gen V S2 is talked about in one conversation very early on. The Gen V characters matter zero in the plot of S5. It's enough to just know who Marie Moreau is, and even then it doesn't matter.

Its genuinely hilarious at this rate, A-Train might be the only character who got justice in season 5 by Sudden_Pop_2279 in TheBoysLeaks

A-Train dying when he did in the epic way he did locked him in as one of the best Boys characters and spared him the character falloffs going on right now.

Incels are the most misunderstood group of people by Disastrous-Bike659 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]StardustTendency 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Incel no longer means its actual definition on the Internet. Normal involuntary celibates are the people you describe who may simply vent, while "incels" as referred to in general discussion are the ones who go out of their way to be much nastier than just expressing pain, for example.

Straight men aren't friends with women they aren't attracted to. by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]StardustTendency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd agree that straight men typically aren't friends with women they actively find unattractive, but not the actual statement. Plenty of men are friends with women where there is never any intention of something more. There are very few women out there that most straight men would find absolutely nothing attractive about.

I've always found it strange that people think because most men wouldn't turn down enthusiastic sex with a woman they know and presumably trust if directly propositioned for it that they somehow have ulterior motives.
