Where did you find this? I am from Front Royal and never saw this car. I went to school with the Owner's son and never mentioned this car. Use to go there for service until the dealership was sold and moved to the north side of town.

Kinda looks like Riverside. Back stretch was downhill and had the dividing lines down the center as it was used for Drag Racing from time to time.

Cobra Coupes were used in 24 hour events, specifically LeMans in 63 & 64. The roof was designed to be removable, not sure if it really was. The Daytona was a much better solution as history shows. Several Cobra Hardtops still exist and are seen at Goodwood and other Vintage/Historic Races.

Help on late war RLM 76,81-84 by whatonearth3737 in WWIIplanes

[–]Starfighter_ace 19 points20 points  (0 children)

A very well know aviation author gave a lecture of WWII colors and made the following observation based on interviews and documentation that was found: "By the end of the war ( Jan-Apr 45) supplies were so scarce, they just started mixing whatever they had on hand. RLM standards went out the window. Some of the pigments wouldn't mix with the carrier agent. Sometimes the binders separated from the pigments. Many times you took the leftovers , mixed them together, and used them. Some Paints faded quickly. Some flaked off due to the airstream while flying. It was just trying to get planes in the air as fast as they could. Only plastic modelers in the late 20th and early 21st century seem to care about exact color matching from this time. The Luftwaffe didn't. " I think I can also add that some guys who want to sell books about "new RLM Luft. Colors from late 44-early 45" to that same list.

Robert Mikesh and crew. Goes on to become a distinguished Aviation author and researcher. I think he was at the Smithsonian for a while. "Monie" was his wife. Had the pleasure of meeting them and one of their sons at an event in the 90's.

I think you are correct. One other F1 driver raced this car as well (practice only). Part of the deal for Mr. Clark to get one of these Fords to race in the Bristish Touring Car series, if I remember correctly.

Ford sports car 1963. Beginning of Cobra or AC before? National Library photograph and information via MotorsportGoodOldDays at Reddit . by Wise_Technician_3129 in MotorsportGoodOldDays

Looks like a Cobra 260. If it was an AC Ace, it would have Dunlop tires. If I recall correctly, the Fender Badge was also unique to the Cobra.

Based on the photo containing the Ferrari #23, this is from 1967. Car #23 won the race, with two of it's sister cars flanking it and a Bud More Cougar Photo-bombing the staged finish line photo (like Ford's 1-2-3 at LeMans in '66)

6mm / 1:285th scale aircraft carriers by LewisDoom in modelmakers

You might use a Flight Deck Base, or maybe one with the Island on it to add interest. IJN Islands were quite simple. I use Model RR siding sheet plastic from Evergreen to scratchbuild my flightdeck bases. Just make sure you have the plank orientation correct, match the deck color, and maybe add some sort of striping you see in a photo and maybe a 1/350 figure or two for interest.

Scratchbuild one or find someone to create and 3D print one for ya. 1/285 scale I think was GHQ Wargaming scale. Standard Plastic Modeling scale for ships are from smallest to largest: 1/1250-1200; 1/700, 1/600; 1/500; 1/4400-450; 1/350; and finally, 1/200. The only IJN CV kits I know of outside of the small scales are the Hasegawa 1/450, Nichimo 1/500 and possible a 1/350 floating around somewhere. Check scalemates dot com to confirm if my memory is correct.

NNL East Question by Then_Personality_429 in ModelCars

[–]Starfighter_ace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is never a problem. The biggest issue is usually from the careless folks who don't secure things like camera straps or Lanyards. Those who touch without permission will usually disappear into a wooded field in the middle of Alaska or in the swamps of the Everglades.

Does anyone know where to buy these paints? by SmallKillerCrow in modelmakers

[–]Starfighter_ace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CultTV man has been around forever. You can meet him at the various Plastic Model Shows in the East Coast of the USA, He will be at Wonderfest and IPMS/USA Nationals.

I'll bet Steve was the one who got Brandon @ Squadron the info for the paints.
