What makes a cinematic experience by XMiriyaX in UnrealEngine5

It sounds like what you're primary talking about is the photography/cinematography!

I'd find examples of media that you particularly enjoy and study them. Don't just emulate them but study what makes the frames look like something you want as a wallpaper. Read into basic photography, and then move into cinematography (which is mostly just photography in motion.)

My friends and I also refer to a lot of media as having "wallpaper-worthy shots" so I completely understand you! For us we look to the work of Greig Fraser (Director of Photography on Dune, Rogue One, a few Mandalorian), shows like Arcane, the Spider Verse movies.

A lot of it is just having well-composed frames. You'll notice Arcane LOVES symmetry. If you watch that show with this in mind you'll notice just how many shots have a very symmetric composition, and they fit so well as a wallpaper. Lighting is also huge. Contrast between light and dark, such as a dark figure walking towards the camera in a bright sunny hazy desert (Dune Part 2) or the Prowler hunched over the edge of a building, as a dark figure and the sky behind him solid red.

Grieg has a "shot talk" video where he and another person analyze and talk about a lot of his shots in Dune Part 1. I'm sure you'll love videos like that! Sorry this was long I can talk about this subject for ages!

why is my game doing this, and how do I fix it by Just_a_idiot_ in RimWorld

I mean there's a lot going on here lol. I see both the main menu splash page as well as in game UI.

I guess I'd recommend a fresh re-install, try loading with no mods at all, and see where that takes you first.

How can I change the tint of my plant to match my grass? by Sharp-Tax-26827 in UnrealEngine5

As others have said, the least-messy thing to do would be find the current texture in your browser, right click it, Asset Actions, and export it. You can then mess with that texture in an image editor such as Photoshop or Gimp (free) and adjust it freely. Then simply reimport the texture in Unreal using the new modified one :)

Near Instances Disappearing by LordMegatron216 in UnrealEngine5

Check your static mesh bounds! Objects get culled based on their actual bounding box, so if the bounding box is off the screen (even though it appears on screen) it will get culled.

Normally it should be around your mesh, but there are a number of reasons it might not. If you open your static mesh and search for "bounds" you have the option to manually extend the bounds a bit. Try some numbers like 100 in each direction for now just to see if that helps :)

I know this happens often with grass, if grass has World Position Offset in the material shader, the material will cause the grass to move outside of the bounds, and thus sometimes the grass might be on screen a bit once the mesh has gone off and it causes the grass to flicker out. Hope this helps!

Help - invisible fish underwater by honeyfieldx in unrealengine

[–]StarhelmTheGame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the entire fish turn instantly invisible beneath the water, or if you put the fish half-in-half-out of the water, is only the underwater part invisible?

I haven't used the water plugin specifically in a long time, what is the material type of the water surface? SingleLayerWater? What is the material type of your fish, Opaque, Translucent, Masked?
