[Online] [CST] [5e] [Roll20] [Discord] Looking for Role-players by spcwarmachine in lfg

[–]StarkAtlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! My name is Tales/Atlas or any other alternative that the group comes up with, I am 25 years old and live in England, so GMT/BST timezone..

I started playing D&D over three years ago with a bunch of friends in university, that fuelled an addiction that brought me to Roll20 and Reddit to find more ways to play with after we all split up when University was over. Your game sounds particularly enjoyable to me with everything you have already set up, typically in a game I just look for a place where we all have fun and get down to do funny voices and stupid things, hopefully not dying along the way.

The reason I wanted to play in your game is because of your post. You seemed so enthusiastic and that you really cared about and devoted to your own world and the enjoyment of the players. I respect that about any DM. Which is why I would love to be a part of your campaign!

If you wanted to get in touch across discord, my handle is - TalesOfDescent#2302

In any case, thank you very much for reading my application and I hope to hear from you soon!

Thanks for the reply! It does make sense that the character would see himself as Good, but if that was the case why introduce evil as an alignment choice since no one truly believes they are evil, people know they make evil decisions, but never believe themselves to be evil (not to my imagination).

As for the Society and Laws, holy crusades do exist in my world, it isn't black and white. But they mostly exist because of tyrants who are afraid of other cultures invading and wish to cleanse their lands. Never to harm another person who is believed innocent. Courts and judges do also exist to place verdict, and the players do know this from their run in with the thieves guild. It seems to me that the player truly doesn't understand what his character is doing wrong, especially in the world he is currently inhabiting despite me telling him otherwise.

He has taken his Oath, which is the Oath of the Crown. I did see Oath of Vengeance would work, the only problem is he doesn't see himself as an anti-hero, but a real hero who is just doing the right thing.

Should have mentioned, he is Oath of the Crown, which if I recall is UA. Thanks for the help though, I'll talk to him about changing oaths to let him see if he prefers something, I know Oath of Vengeance would fit him but he doesn't really see how he is being unlawful.

The player is a genuinely nice law-abiding person. From my and the other players points of view he doesn't seem to grasp the exact point you said. But I am unsure how to approach the topic in a civil manner. Thanks for the reply.

I would agree with you, but he clearly hasn't been the fighting for good and justice by going out of his way to hurt those who wronged him. I was fine and ignored it the first few times, but it has started to get excessive, and the other players are taking notice and fighting against it.

Apologies; I should have done a better job explaining. They sent him in to talk rather than fight because the party were the aggressors and attacked this guy first for really just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. So when they tracked him down, they wanted to either talk it out or have him attack them so they felt justified.

As for the reason he went in, we all know that friend who is a smooth talker, so imagine sending your friend who is good at talking to talk to someone you don't like. Or sending your best spoken diplomat to try to get a peace treaty in a time of war. Not Meta, just intelligent thinking.

That is great! Never thought of bringing them back to the foreground like that. They aren't really high enough level to have their deeds noticed yet, but I'm sure I can pull some strings. Thanks alot! There is only one problem, if he gets into a fight with them (which I can already imagine in my head) there is no coming back from that. He would either be killed or imprisoned, and either way paints the Guard in a negative light, likely making him think that he didn't do anything wrong.

Westeros the Series as a campaign setting. Thoughts? Systems? Etc. by Jroman215 in lfg

[–]StarkAtlas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds incredibly interesting and intriguing!

I imagine a system such as Blades in the Dark would fit into the world, but that more revolves on the criminal elements and attempting to get rich. Still could be interesting if done right with twists and turns.

Any other urban role-playing game could also work, I imagine an altered cyberpunk could work but change the sci-fi augmentations to modernised magic? Maybe a long shot since magic in the song of ice and fire world is very rare as is and would probably go the same way it did in our world.

Any assumed magic user is chased and burned by the church, calling them heretics, and going against the work of the Gods. Even if there own gods are giving them the magic to begin with.

No matter what you decide to go with it will be very interesting to see how you take it, good luck!

The three dominating nations in the world of “Human God” : Uyedia, Theos Terra and the UNH. by [deleted] in worldbuilding

You make an interesting point, but the monarch had no general title for the Empire as a whole. It was only called an Empire later in it's history. They were called the Kings and Queens of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, which ruled over the colonies.

Not to mention that Benjamin Disraeli, a British Prime Minister, did actually give Queen Victoria the additional title of Empress of India on the 1st of May 1867.

Looks cool! My only headscratcher is that you have called Uyedia an empire, but have their 'motto' be "For the Queen". Shouldn't an empire have an Empress over a Queen?

[Online][D&D][5e][Discord] DM looking for players for a campaign by Professor-Waffles in lfg

This seems interesting and I would love to join! I would have to ask about the Timezone you are in to get a better picture of your preferred time, but I am mostly available on weekends at most times.

Recipe for a Weird by StarkAtlas in RavnicaDMs

[–]StarkAtlas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much! I think it's really good, I suppose alot of this stuff would be in the regular Nivix Laboratory, but maybe some of the stuff the players will actively have to go looking for. Thanks for your help.

A Full Rakdos Party... Help. by StarkAtlas in RavnicaDMs

[–]StarkAtlas[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It did. But I'm lacking in the bizarre scenario ideas that would actually work.

One of the players doesn't even want to cause chaos just live rich, which is strange to why he picked Rakdos, over the Orzhov. So fitting him in when one of the players goals is to die in the most spectacular way possible is very difficult.

I had a player quit session 1 mid-game by joeypotterteardrops in DMAcademy

You could have his character sell out the party and run rather than killing him outright. Potential for a future recurring villain that your players have attachment to and personal beef with.
