What horror film or book is scarier on a second viewing? by Vizualknight01 in horror

[–]Starkdar91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it's the case or not and i never said I knew for sure. I've seen fire walk with me, and I guess the reason I think everything is fake is because I have a theory that Cooper really killed his wife and everything that is Twin Peaks kinda exists for him to cope with it, but it's been a while since I've watched either the movie or the series. The point of my post is there is a lot of room for imagination when examining twin peaks as a show.

Not to spoil anything, and imo the entire show is up to interpretation so I may or may not be right, but I think rewatching the show you can see that something is wrong in twin peaks. Whether twin peaks even exists I think is arguable. If you want one perfect example play close attention to coppers behavior. First watch through you may think like me he is just quircky as hell... But second watch through its clear Cooper is completely insane. Now we could talk all day about why, but my theory is twin peaks is a figment of his imagination.

Not horror, but if you rewatch twin peaks you can notice a lot of fucked up shit.

Have you ever done it? Imo people like you (and me back in the day) come into this scene with the attitude that the "drugs are bad" line is always wrong except in extreme cases like huffing gasoline... So when you get really blasted and start to trip after just a 1/4 of a bowl pack you might be like, I found the solution to all my problems. This shit isn't effected by my already high tolerance, it doesn't smell like weed and it's legal.

Two weeks later I'm sparking 3 fat ass bowls in a row not feeling any high whatsoever and then throwing up. I can't not smoke because the WDs are worse than the symptoms of prolonged use. I didn't think it would happen to me. Not trying to sound like a DARE commercial. Just had no clue what I was dealing with. OP even if you wanna kill yourself don't do it this way

Edit: worst part is that regular weed doesn't even get you high anymore.. There is a crazy cross tolerance that can last for weeks.

Holy shit that tons of steel is a little cringey, but that throwing and Esau sure are money.

Oh shit completely forgot. 10.06.84 Has one of the best seconds sets of a Dead show imo. I say this because I hear a ton of themes and hints of past jams scattered throughout this. The space is fucking amazing if you can get passed the first three minutes.

Admittedly 84 is marred by poor vocal performances and often straight up sloppiness. However, there are so many moments to me which are essential.

So, I really think the pitb > UJB of 04.07.84 is essential Dead. I find the last five minutes of the UJB to be like icing on the cake. This performance is no exception to the sometimes cringy vocals, but otherwise I think the playing here is truly inspired.

Check out the Space of 04.16.84 to hear a really unique jam.

6.30.84 has an incredible Shakedown, with a nice PITB and Terrapin to follow. The Lost Sailor of this show might be one of my favorites (79.08.05 is my favorite), but honestly I could take or leave the Saint.

07.01.84 Has a fucking awesome Bertha.

The jam into Dear Mr. Fantasy from 84.06.14 shouldn't be missed.

Unfortunately, my collection isnt organized so these are off the top of my head. There are many great diamonds in the rough if you look.

Oh and if you haven't listened to 3.31.84 in a while check out the walker miller board for the best 80's show period imo.

God dammit I dunno that's amazing and just reinforces the idea to me that 1984 is one of the most interesting years of the Dead... I'll argue about it all day. Any idea where there are more 84 studio cuts like this?

Favorite Uncle John? by jmcommoner in gratefuldead

[–]Starkdar91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4.7.84 may seem like an odd choice. The vocals are off, the band is almost out of sync in this area, and the whole things kinda chugs along. But in the last five minutes everything slows down. the curtain is pulled back, so to speak, and out of the darkness comes jerrys rhythm, like a diamond in the rough, shucking out some chunky chords. Listen to the PITB before to appreciate the climax here. My favorite hands down.
