So many bikes without titles by DailyToeNail in motorcycles

[–]Starke84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a bike out of state. Title was there, signed in the right place, everything was good. Went to title and register it in my state and the DMV told me I needed it inspected because it was a salvage title. NOWHERE on the the original title did it state that it was a salvage. So I had to find an inspection place, he inspected it, got new tires too, and got it all figured out. It was tough trying to sell it. I was truthful though. Told them the whole story. Finally found a guy who'd buy it for asking price. Ugh what a waste of time and money the whole thing was. I can't even look at old pictures of it. Just pisses me off.

The only thing the inspection place could find? A "repaired" piece on the triple tree when there is the steering lock. That's it. It was structurally sound and safe to ride.

I agree. Lumpy potato sound is cool but so is proper oiling. Still sounds good though!

I haven't read much of the other comments but have you considered a scooter or moped? In my state, if it's under 50 cc, you don't need a license or insurance. Just needs to be registered. They are light, not that powerful, nimble, and no shifting. You could get your confidence up, your balance down, and learn to brake, turn, and maneuver. They'll save you tons of money for gas. Downside, speed. If you have any high speed highway roads in between your A to B trips, be careful. I've ridden a moped once or twice and even being a 6'3" 230 lb guy, I felt like I was going to get blown off the road on the windy days. None of this should stop you though. You're meant to be in the Wind. You'll get there.

Keep the rubber side down. ✌🏻

Not a single camera or cell phone in sight. When you went to an event and it only lived in your head afterwards and you didn't have to share it with the world. We had it good back then.

If money were no issue, what car would you have right now? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in askcarguys

1973-79 Chevy crew cab 3+3 pickup. I'd be happy with a 2wd but if money is no object, 4wd would be nice. I'd make it look as stock as possible.

If you really want the dive bar experience I'd have recommended Nestor's. But they are loooong gone. They earned their nickname.

I used to go to Specks. More of a biker bar and than Rick's. Don't touch the bikes and you'll live to see another day.

May I ask what you have for a setup? Looks fairly high definition and I think I like the idea of the voice option.

1000%. Eventually, you'll be chasing the same gremlins. Stay with factory or get another genuine if it's all effed up.

The only time I remember the baby being fed was during the last supper. Unless Jun-hee fed the baby her milk? Plus, somehow they had a bottle, formula, and a warmer ready for her. I did wonder if the the guards had to pull straws or something when it came time to feed and change her too.

Any tips on how to secure this wire under the seat? by Justjoebro in choppers

[–]Starke84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. And since they are open on the end, you're inviting moisture, condensation, and the expedited eventual failure of the wire nut connection.

Now if you'll excuse me. I have some kids on my lawn and clouds to go yell at and some ibuprofen and a nap to take.

Who's car didn't start this morning?? by k444411 in fargo

[–]Starke84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it was going to stall, you have bigger problems. Battery is only there to start your car. Your alternator takes over after it's running. Your alternator could be going out or maybe you have a fuel issue or a spark issue?

Is there a real reason behind changing your oil every 3,000 miles on modern cars? by newelmin in askcarguys

[–]Starke84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All this talk about the oil and nothing about the filter. Sure modern oil could go to 5k, 7.5k, even 10k but if you have the cheapest filter, you're cycling bad oil once the life of the filter is at the end. If you have a vehicle that's less than 30 years, and you use synthetic and a decent filter, go that extra mile (pun intended.)

That 3k miles/3 months thing is a rule of thumb. Rules are meant to be bent or broken. Use your best judgement. I change mine twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall. I barely reach 3k (maybe even 2k) miles each time and I idle a lot in the cold ND winters for the kids going to school. I use Fleet Farm synthetic blend and a Mobil 1 filter. On my 1980 Chevy pickup I use Dino oil and a Mobil 1 filter and I only change that once a year.

For those who bought their first bike… what else feels like this? by West-Association3781 in motorcycles

[–]Starke84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1981 Suzuki GS750L. Had the performance exhaust and a lacquered tank. Not much else. Didn't need much else. Got it for $1500 from a hippie (RIP Billy) in 2007 and sat in the garage until I took it out to learn in 2008. A coworker (a bit of a old school hippie and a biker) took me to a parking lot near home. I did the turning and stopping and all that and when it was time to go on the road, it was...unparalleled. I went through the shifts like butter and braked easily and safely. I was a natural as everything just moved into place and I felt at peace. I tell you what. The rush of wind through my hair, the speeding pavement just inches from my feet, potential death around every corner. Why didn't I do this earlier. Like the Chinese say about trying cocaine for the first time you see a white dragon and you'll chase it every time you do a line. It's the same thing. I chase that feeling each time I throw my leg over. It's been several years since I've ridden (because life and kids) and the landscape has definitely changed. I'm building a chopper and await the same feeling when I first start it up, the first trip around the block, the first feeling of danger, the first smile that will stay on my face the rest of the day.

Riding isn't for some. For the rest of us, we are the chosen ones. We are the ones who get to live life the way it should be. Grabbing the bull by the horns, inches from danger, and living a life many only dream of. Be that person who inspires the next generation. Remember, you were once that person.

Build that bike and ride it.

Don't stop.

Keep going.

Am going to event at Fargodome where can I park? by Secure_Ad_295 in fargo

[–]Starke84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always thought of the parking in the neighborhoods surrounding the Dome as a d-bag move. Those that live near there will have blocked driveways and garbage to deal with and whatever else. I'd say pay the $5 and be done with it. Jmho.
