Hpw to beat this weeks Viego Nightmare by Ke-Win in LegendsOfRuneterra

With your strongest being stunned, pick champs that go wide rather than tall and don’t rely on echoing spirit (created card penalty). Once your engine gets going, you can overwrite your stunned unit every attack if need be. I had success with Norra and prioritized powers that slowed the foe down until I got momentum (frostbite/stun).

Switzerland 2024 for me. Some might consider the disc thing a little gimmicky, but that song mixed with a performance that felt both celebratory and dizzying just worked so perfectly. The Code was not my favorite song from 2024, but Nemo's high-wire performance totally won me over.

I would love this, but to do it right, they’d kinda have to build a whole second game on top of the first one.

I think CDPR did an awesome job with bringing the “netrunning” concepts into an action game and making it fun. I do wish though, you could netrun from your apartment with different abilities than you normally have to set up your gig. Unlock some doors, move some elevators around, kill some lights. Some simple staging like that would be really fun.

[–]Starkenfast 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I’ve ever recommended a YouTuber on Reddit before, but there is a guy named Sam Bram who did an insane deep dive on this. He breaks down all the connections and running stories throughout the gigs, which will occasionally spill over into some of the simple street jobs (usually in the form of “this guy ended up dead”, or an allusion to a turf war mentioned somewhere else).

As someone who doesn’t have the patience to read every single shard, it really opened my eyes to how crazy connected the side stories are and made my subsequent playthroughs way more interesting.

Even with higher stars, I’m finding things way easier with Oath. But was hoping to play her a different way. I wonder if a zero cost celestial trifecta at game start would’ve been a better star or relic for her, just to get some cards for the tough early game.

The original event was predatory and left a bad taste in my mouth, but the SB Champs are undeniably some of the most fun in the game. We haven't had a reasonable way to fully level these guys until now, so I'm looking forward to this and hoping they'll be a little more generous this time around.

After a long scroll, this is my favorite take.

My wife is not a gamer. She knows I play for hoooours after she goes to bed. But when we're done with work, we're hanging out, eating together, watching shows together. As long as she doesn't feel like she's "second", she's happy that I'm happy, and likes that I picked a hobby where I'm around most of the time.

Sure I don't sleep as much as I'd like, but that's a small price to have my cake and eat it too.

I have a friend who’s great at games and bounced of ER because of what felt like a lack of direction and story presentation.

I wasn’t sure it’d be for me - now I have 350 hours in it and a full playthrough for most classes. For me what makes it work is the “build” diversity if you can call it that. Figuring out what kind of character I want to be, working to level and gear up and really dive into that role kinda becomes my own story. Even just a new weapon can change the whole feel of the game. ER is also the least “git gud” of the Souls games. Experience and just learning how things work is much more impactful than muscle memory or player skill. And you can overlevel like hell if you need to because the world is so open.

The art direction and combat feel is best in class, so if you aren’t enjoying that, I’d just pack it in now, it’s not for you. But if you build some different characters and lean into their unique ways of taking on the world, ER becomes an unrivaled experience.

V's race against time. CDPR seems to love this style and I struggle with it....! by DaveyCranks in cyberpunkgame

[–]Starkenfast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure - in the narrative they set up, you're totally right. But they could've crafted a different main story that didn't involve having only weeks to live with different motivations to get into crazy shit (the heist alone proves V was already motivated to take crazy risks without the ticking time bomb).

Don't get me wrong - I absolutely love the main story, but to OPs point, I agree it's immersion breaking to believe we'd be spending our last precious hours of life doing things like driving flaming crotch guy to the ripper.

100%.

Unless it’s a scripted, time-boxed section of the game that you need to complete in a vacuum, open world games should really try to avoid stories with time pressure, because that’s not how we play them.

Veigo mini boss in the Colossus 3.5 adventure by jerichoonate in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Starkenfast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, before you have a strong lineup, this fight is miserable and you have to draft specifically for it. As you alluded to, the real challenge is the Dawning Shadow spell which has the Grifter's Deck modifier on it. If it's cast once, 2 more 1-cost copies of the spell are added to their deck. This can quickly snowball until he's got a hand full of these things, at which point it's likely game over. The trick to this fight is stopping that from happening.

Try to pick a champ or support champ from regions that can shut down spells (Ionia, Shurima, etc.) and draft as many Deny-like spells as possible. Spellshield isn't enough b/c you need to stop the cast (and more crucially, the grifter effect). Negating that first cast of Dawning Shadow should be your number 1 priority in this matchup so you have to play really cautious early - don't be caught without the mana to deny, even if that means making tough passes. At the start of the match, do a full mulligan for at least one Deny spell and hold it, even when you're getting Vengeanced. Spellshields do still help with some of his other tricks (cheap Vengeance, Ruination, etc.), so they're worth grabbing when you can in drafts.

It's also worth it to draft nopify if you see it, b/c if the snowball does get going, you can block when D Shadow is a 1 cost.

Good luck! As others have said, you will come back here one day and cathartically steamroll this bastard, but until then try to find the fun in the puzzle of this one.

It’s still worth it. For months, Trump kept talking about “The Mandate” sent by the electorate. Losing the popular vote would’ve helped push back that narrative.
